[Resolved]  Royal Enfield Service Center, Edappally, Cochin — Using parts from damaged vehicles in new vehicles

Address:Ernakulam, Kerala

Sir,

I am a Royal Enfield Customer. I bought a Royal Enfield Classic 350cc Motor Cycle (please see at the bottom for the vehicle details) from Royal Enfield Brand Store at Edappally on 17-May-2011. I have done the entire free service and 3 paid service from the service Centre in this same store. There was a manufacturing defect in the back seat of the vehicle. I had pointed out this to the service Centre guys on the first service itself. They said they will rectify this on next service and will paint the rear mud guard as early as possible. They repeated the same wordings at every service. The warranty period of the vehicle is over by now and completed 4 paid services too. Still they didn’t do anything regards to this.

I had an issue with the chain sprocket of my bike last December. The teeth of the sprocket were completely lost. So I thought of replacing it completely. I gave my bike for the second paid service by saying this to be replaced as the main thing. They replaced the entire chain sprocket. I had paid an amount more than 2000 INR as the service charge. I don’t remember the bill amount exactly and unfortunately I don’t have the bill with me. It was something more than 2000 INR. I have sent a mail to the Royal Enfield customer Centre for the duplicate bills for both the service sheet and parts. I am waiting for their reply. They have the entire records against the vehicle number and engine number.

Right after the 3rd service on (26 Feb 2013), I again asked them regarding the manufacturing defect rectification and other complaints. The service Centre executive’s response was embarrassing. He was telling that, the chain sprocket changed on last service was an adjustment from their side at free of cost to me. They have replaced the chain-sprocket parts from a damaged vehicle. I have paid an amount more than 2000 INR and I don’t understand how it will be free of cost. I am sure that I have paid the entire amount for the parts. I was embarrassed by being hearing this from this guy in front of other customers. The Executive’s name is ‘Sajad’, if I am not wrong.

I don’t understand why this people behave like this. Are they supposed to replace the parts from damaged vehicles to other vehicles? Do they have the authority to give parts for free to other vehicles, if so how do we track the vehicle service history of our vehicle?

I want you to take a proper action against these activities. Also please take actions to make sure that I will get the manufacturing defect rectified by this service Centre as soon as possible and if the replaced chain-sprocket from a damaged vehicle, I want to get it replaced by a new one.

Please let me know if you need further information.

Thanks for your time.

I too had similar experience from ROYAL ENFIELD BRAND STORE, Edappally and i had stopped servicing my bullet here.
Even I am thinking of stop servicing here. How do we trust these guys ? For me, my vehicle is a part of my life.
I have sent a mail to Customer Care Centre asking the duplicates of the bills given by them. Their senior people, directed me the Sales manger of Edappally show room and they have asked him to give all the support that I wanted. But I didn't get call or enquiry from him so far.
I bought my classic 500 from here. The experience was horrible. When I went to get the bike, I saw it left in the open with mud splashes on the rims! Remember - it's a new bike waiting to be delivered!.
I saw that bike didn't had rear view mirrors and reported to an executive. He immediately pulled out mirror from another bike and fitted on mine! While waiting for the bike to get delivered (All the executives were playing game in mobile saying that there was some internal auditing going on and hence it will take a while to get print out of my insurance cover note!) some service guys came in - removed parts from one bike and refitted on others!
I asked the executive's name and contact number - he said he is "Nandu" (if I remember correctly) and he is resigning next day, so no use in his contact number! And the truth is he still works there!!
The store also asked me to sign on the helmet recieved letter (but never gave me a helmet). The petrol in the tank was poured so that I could reach the next bunk which was just opposite of the showroom!! I know the RE standard is to fill 2L petrol!

These guys are horrible.
Is these guys get the proper action against the inconvenient behavior of these guys ...?!
