Mumbai Traffic Police — Car driver not obeying traffic police's command and officer allowing the car to drive off
Dear traffic police commissioner, The incident i am narrating happened with me today morning between 9.30 am & 10.00 am opposite babulnath mandir, near girgaum chowpatty. I was on my way to the office and walking towards wilson college. i crossed first half of the road and was standing on the road divider waiting for the traffic to stop. The officer on duty standing on the opposite side of the road signaled the traffic to stop. while the cars in the two lanes near to him stopped, there was one car in the third lane which blatantly ignored officer's signal and kept on driving. I had barely taken two steps when i saw this speeding towards me. i stood there not knowing what to and the car screeched to halt one foot away from me. I looked at the officer and gestured meaning what was happening and did he see what happened. the officer said he had signalled the cars to stop. on reminding him that the car standing one foot away from me had not heeded to his command and he should confiscate his licence he said what the driver did was was normal. I am appalled by the officer's attitude. i can't help but doubt the intention of the officer. this is the story of one officer, i am sure there are hundreds like him in mumbai. mumbai's traffic is already damned nationally and internationally. these kind officers only help put the final nail in the coffin. I request you to please teach your officers moral values first and traffic rules later. I represent all those distressed pedestrians, who feel they have lost all their right to walk on the road 'in favour of' rouge two wheeler and car drivers. Was this information helpful?
