National Insurance Company — Pathetic customer care and only money minded business by national insurance

I had an existing policy from NIC (National Insurance COmpany). On 17-Oct-2015, I tried to renew my policy online as it was about to expire in few days. The website clearly provided a link to "To Renew your policy online" with the weblink URL - https://nationalinsuranceindia.nic.co.in/portal/page/portal/Corporate/Home/Renew...

I submitted my policy number and entered the code it asked and submitted. It took all the details, and I made the payment online thru netbanking (Corp Bank). The money is deducted from bank account but finally the renewed policy is not generated. It gave a page where some random ref num is given but no policy details. I immediately called up the customer care on 17-Oct-2015 and mentioned about the problem. The customer care refuse to accept that there is a link of such sort in their website and claim that there is no link to renew online. They even refuse to accept that the money was debited from my account and credited to their company.

The customer care clearly said that THERE IS NO POLICY GENERATED.

I am not sure whether the customer care representative did not had the knowledge or is it the approach taken by NIC to cheat customers. I sent a MAIL also complaining of this problem and there is no response at all. I had to look at alternate vendors and got my policy renewed immediately.

Now the funny and scary second part of this -
After about 18 days, on 04-NOV-15 one lady by name SHIVANI NEGI ([protected]@hcl.com) called up and said that she is from customer care of NIC via HCL team and enquired about my problem. I clearly told her that

* The money was deducted
* Policy not genereted
* I got a new policy renewed from a different insurance company and that I need my money back

She asked me to send a snapshot of the bank transaction and I sent a mail with the details. Now, instead of giving me a refund of money, she created a new policy in NIC and trying to rub it onto me. I clearly said during the first call itself that I have a policy from a different insurance company as there was no response from NIC and that I need my money back. Despite all that info, I still got a new policy only.

I immediately responded saying that I do not need this policy and that I already have one and need my money back. Then funnily, the lady says that the customer should cancel the new policy as it was created by customer.

Its shocking. First time when I contact customer care, they clearly say that there is NO POLICY generated. This second lady says that the policy is generated by me and that I should cancel it.

I sent a mail to SHIVANI copying the customer care of NIC (support.[protected]@nic.co.in).

Even till date there is no response from SHIVANI or from NIC on this.

Summary of the story: NIC is only interested in making new policies and taking money from customer but dont care about customer support. I would let you take a decision on whether to goto NIC for any insurance policy again.
