Ola Cabs — No transparency in peak time surcharge during ola ride

Hi, Would like to bring to your notice that Currently OLA CABS in Chennai have came up with a New billing technique by the way indirectly bills more to the Customer in the name of Surcharge for Peak Hour Journey.There is no clear description provided by OLA on this billing structure and there no clarity of what is the Peak hour timings defined by them and what is the billing for that.When i spoke to customer care regarding this it had been told as a Dynamic Billing with respect to demand.I no way see any transparency here in this where by customers are indirectly made to pay more for their journey when they have their money in OLA Money and limited chance to look for other service providers as most o[censored]s are hurry looking for the journey to start.Also there is no communication with respect to change in this tariff structure to the registered customers. Hope OLA looks into it and takes necessary steps to have much more transparency in billing.

I wish to bring to your notice that OLA a Private Taxi service agency is looting the people in the name of peak hours charages. Today I travelled from Chennai central to pallikaranai for which the actual travel cost is Rs.302.5/- incl tax. But I was charged Rs.726 stating that 240 percentage is peak hour charges and the pricing is called as Dynamic fare. these private taxis are looting common public like us and we are suffering heavily because of them. I request your goodself to kindly look into this issue and order for necessary and immediate action. Kindly consider this as a plea by public and not by an individual.
That's correct. Yesterday, neither the customer care executive nor the driver told me upfront that they will charge a "surcharge" to me. When I reached the destination, they told me that this is a new charge (of Rs. 25/-) and that I have to pay it. Even today when I called the customer care, they did not explicitly mention about it to me till I myself asked. They told that they would charge Rs. 50/- as surcharge (more than what I was charged the previous day). I told them to advance the booking time by one hour (4 PM) to avoid peak timings and thus the surcharge. To my surprise, whatever time I requested for between 1 PM to 6 PM would draw a surcharge of Rs. 50/-! (It was 12 noon when I called them, perhaps the surcharge would be charged no matter what time of the day it is in the name of "peak hours"). Absolute malpractice, the customer base drawn by Ola because of their offers will be lost at twice the rate if they continue with such practices.
I travelled in morning 4.30, its no more peak hour but they put Surchage..total old
I too had been charged with the surcharge. Customer care keeps repeating the same story about dynamic rates and there is no explanation on surcharge timings. I even had to pay waiting charges for no fault of mine. Customer care replied back saying the cab waited in traffic signal and hence the waiting charges. Very dynamic rating indeed !!!
Completely agree with this. Not just in Chennai, OLA has this Peak Time Surcharge (PTS) obscurity in Hyderabad as well. On booking a cab at 9:00 PM from airport to city as well, i was chaged for the Peak time surcharge and made to pay 1.3 times the fare. There is also no clarity in terms of what peak time surcharge is? Sometimes the peak time surcharge is a flat amount over your total bill (eg Rs 50/- or so) and sometimes it is a percentage times your total bill (eg. 1.3 times etc).
While it might be agreeable be dynamic in business, but what is not agreeable is that there is no justifications provided around the same by the customer care nor there is any written guielines/process around this PTS on their website. Looks like this has become a way for OLA to mint money from the Customers.
total . starting to HATE OLA. i was asked to pay rs 135 surcharge for a bill of 187 rs. thats like 1.6 times, they are going the meru way of high price, just that they are not admitting it. call it surcharge or call it Rs. 21 a km, its one and the same for me. Sad to see OLA doing this in such a short span of time. OLA YOU SUCK.
Highly unprofessional and unethical company, book a cab anytime in a day and you see peak time surcharge, also the drivers follow their own route .
OLA cab should define the
- timing for the peak ours surcharge.
- on what basis they are collecting the surcharge, I mean why 1.6 times of the base charges
- They should intimate the customers before riding or during the call that they are going to charge this much.
This is simply cheating to the customers.
I still don't understand why the customer should pay for non availability of the taxi with Ola. And to call it as peak time rate is bull crap. Ola in Chennai calls 6:30 AM on a Saturday as peak hour rate and also calls 11:30 AM on a Sunday as also peak hour rate.

Happy to move back to Fast Track, he tells one rate and charges only that. Fast Track is superb now
I travelle at 2:30pm they charged ride time charge of 22 rs ..I didnt understand y shoul pay ride time charges ..as per customercare totall travelling time 27 min first 5 min free after that charged 1rsper min..idint y it is we r paying per km na after 4km
That means if travel time is 60 mints we have to pay 55 rs plus tax after bill

Whenever am trying to book a cab in OLA, its showing peak time, either it may be 06:30 or 11:45 or 16:15 or 21:00.. Frustrated with these, though the road is damn free. So nowadays, am not at all using OLA cabs to book the cabs. Am going for the competitor who don’t charge the peak hrs extra fare at all. My suggestion is to either remove this crap kind of extra fares or keep some specific 1hr time for a day.

I had to urgently contact Ola to board a flight today at 6:55 AM .

Not knowing that it would be such a high cost, I accepted the cab. I realized that this was a mistake as it had no economic rationale to pay such a high cost.

This is unfair on Ola’s part to charge such heavy sums, which might be pleasing only for the drivers and the company but certainly not for the riders.

Today I travelled from Chennai Central Railway Station to Velachery for this they usually charge 260/- but I booked the cab at 11.30 pm and there is no traffic but they charged 3.x . Finally I paid 260*3= 784
It's totally unfair, anyway thanks and good bye ola...if you continue like this there is no more ola in chennai.
I had faced same issue on 31 December 2015 evening. They charged 4.0X. This is robbery and unfair by Ola.

How can i believe Ola providing economic fare.I have Travel from Paras Hospital to Shalimaar Garden Ghaziabad.
Charge Rs. 700.25 extra on name of Peak Hours.But at the time of Booking there is no such type of option asked.
Driver has told me peak hour.Due to Patient with us we can not change after ride.

Dear all, I too heavily suffered from ola within 2 days, I will explain now, 1st day I was booked the cab from egmore to icf at 1 oclock afternoon, they hve charged 150 rs @6.6km, 2nd day I have booked taxi a on sunday morning 9 am, they r charged 250 for 4km and told that as peak hr charge, then same day night 9.0pm again I hve booked the cab for icf to egmore railway stn, they were charged rs 402 as fare and told that it was 3x times fare. Bt one geniouity was I told abt this 3x fare matter while booking time itself, bcoz my urgency to get the train And no more options I booked, another big drawback was however they knew our urgency through our continue tries to book cab.they were deliberately delaying our booking and not selecting our calls in order to make it as peak hr/dynamic fare.its totally not acceptable one, govt have to interven this issues and to regularate the fares.
