This is to report the very unpleasant dealings I have had with apparent con-men who call themselves 'MusicTech' and claim to be selling guitars and drum kits online through OLX. DO NOT TRUST them! OLX site: http://www.olx.in/userlistings/Music-Tech
They claim to be MusicTech store in Kohima and they post classic guitars and drums for sale, yet each post is from a different part of India. When you enquire about that, they say the goods are with them. I should have been more cautious. The emails from them are almost always sent in the middle of the night (suggesting they are actually in a different time zone) and they almost never answer the phone (and then only when they are expecting to be able to make a demand for money). They didn't sign their email with a name until I insisted on it, and then I am not sure the names are genuine.
I responded to an ad for a vintage 'Rogers' Drumset advertised at 56, 000 INR. I was also interested in a 'Tama' kit they'd advertised, and so after some emails to establish contact and ask some questions about their kits I sent them an email ordering one of the kits (the 'Rogers') and agreeing with them to terms of half payment in advance, half on delivery. After two days I received an email marked "URGENT URGENT !! Mispackage notice" . There was a long email explaining that one of the company's employees had mistakenly sent three drumkits in one shipment instead of just the one I'd ordered. The company was panicking because the shipment they'd sent was worth 2.5 Lakhs and so they requested me to pay the balance on my set as a guarantee for them that I would not make off with the drums once they arrived. I refused, saying that these were not our terms and that it was not my responsibility to cover their mistake. However they returned with yet another long, and this time extremely aggressive, email stating that they could not recall their shipment and that they needed to demand this payment and that I would certainly get the shipment the next day. Foolishly, I was pushed into agreeing to pay the balance on the kit and so sent another 25, 200 to the account details they'd given me.
The drums didn't show up. Again my phone calls were not answered, nor my emails until this morning I received an email (again marked URGENT URGENT) telling me that they could not let the delivery come to me without a further assurance of Rs 28, 300. They were worried about some shipments of theirs in the past which had gone missing.
They have my full payment for one drum kit, yet they are not prepared to deliver it and all their communication is to manipulate more money out of me rather than to engage in any kind of honest attempt to sort the problem out. I can only conclude that their business is not honest or legal.
They are organised, yet dangerous. The courier company they use is called 'Nationwide Couriers and is based in the UK. It is impossible to contact the couriers by phone and the one email I had from them was uninformative. The courier helpline doesn't work. Their tracking site was not updated after 30th September.
If they were legitimate traders, there would be nothing to stop them recalling their consignment and sorting out their problem at their end. At this point it is difficult to believe the drums even exist and their mode of doing business is so extremely manipulative, aggressive and unpleasant that I can no longer proceed with any sort of business with them. Therefore I am posting this as a warning to others and to discredit their bad business, and also, if possible, to get my money back! Please BE WARNED, and please help me get my refund.

Look, I'm sorry to hear that you're all in such a panic about this.
There was a mistake, it's true, but I think you have been
extreme in your reaction to sack your employee forthwith. I am very sorry
to be the occasion of someone losing their job, and your behaviour does not
predispose me well to reassuring you in any way, let alone paying out a huge
sum just to make you feel safer.
No, sorry I will not be paying you lakhs of rupees for drums
that I am not going to keep.
However, you can be sure that I will not cause you any worry
about this. I will not take anything that I have not paid for, and I am
quite happy to store the packages until you find a way to get them returned to
yourselves or sent on to whomever.
I have a suggestion.
I must admit that I am glad to see these drums because it
allows me to take some thought as to whether I would want to buy these or other
drums like them, so, if it's ok with you, I will look inside the packages and
inspect the drums while they are with me. They will be safe, they will remain
in the house and they will not be damaged or marked in any way. If I
decide I really want to buy them, after all, I will make you an offer.
I think it would be fair for you to ask me to pay some kind
of deposit on the understanding that I am checking out the drums as a possible
purchase - of course, if the drums are already sold to someone, then that is
another matter, and I will make sure the packages remain sealed and will not
pay a deposit.
If you can assure me that the drums are not already sold,
and that I can check them out, you are welcome to suggest a deposit amount, on
the understanding that this will be returned to me if I choose not to buy the
drums. If we agree this, I will pay the postage for the drums to be
returned to you within one week.
If this agreement suits you, then I would also request that
you return your employee to his/her job - surely this will be a lesson for us
all.

I have received your attachments. This is all very well, however, your
insistance that I pay you the full amount in advance of delivery goes against
our initial agreement, which was half in advance, half on delivery.
In other words, how can I trust you that you will honour our agreement and

It is not in my
interests to pay you before receipt of my goods.
Besides, it is not me that has been pressuring for immediate
delivery - it is you who have determined this to be so urgent.
Now, so far, the
goods have reached Uttar Pradesh according to the tracking details. If you
decide to recall them and then send out my drums as agreed, that is your
choice.
Furthermore, I will not be able to make the payment to you
by the end of the day today, now that this has taken so long, so you would have
to receive the payment tomorrow. And I'm afraid you will not receive
payment until I receive the drums.
If you trust that I will abide by what I've assured you in
my emails, then deliver the goods, I will pay the balance for my drums, and
even might buy another kit as well. However, if you are really in doubt I
suggest you don't deliver anything, recall the shipment, and then send out
again the drums I have actually agreed to buy.
I'm sorry that I can't be of more help to you than
this. I am being as flexible as I can be. After all, you already
have my downpayment on one of the kits, you have my details, you know my
address and number, you know where I work, I'm not about to run away.

WE DECIDE TO RECALL THEM AND SEND OUT SEPARATELY YOUR ORDER BECAUSE IT HAS
REACHED UTTAR PARDESH" i will make it clear to you that it all depends
on you if you want to received the delivery today before 2:00pm or you wait
more longer unspecified days further to receive the drum sets and that will not
be good also bear in mind that is not possible to direct anyone to unsealed,
open and removed your 5in1 units order Vintage Rogers Drum Set from the whole
packed and sealed together 18in1 set of drums no is not possible simply because
any opening of the consignment by any other person not you will endanger and put
the whole drums into big risk and liable to easy theft, more reason is that
these are handy and easy to picked drums away by unknown person and also is an
alteration on the consignment that may cause you and us big lost if not
careful.
Yes, we agreed on
payment of balance after delivery but in a situation like these where a huge
mistake of mis-package was done in your name and address by one of our top
manager who we took a disciplinary action on "SACKING HER" for her
mis-did and putting us in trouble yet Mr. Ben you are the same person who
pleaded on her behave that we should retained here still under-reconsideration
but fired already and you still complain is all our fault and debunking your
statement here again that we are to blame for the mispackage. Mr. Ben yes
as said is our fault we agreed and when such error was made next thing is
solution not argument and only that way we can make progress here. These have
prompted us bridging the agreement that you have to complete the whole part of
your order payment first before you received the delivery because already 18in1
products parcel are shipped in your name and address only accessible by you
only not other person to received and open to removed your single 5in1 vintage
drum sets.
All these are measures
of ensuring that the extra 13in1 set of drums are also safe after you received
them and removed your single nit 5in1 Vintage order first but yet all these are
done in your favor and a big relief which you never considered to be an
assistance from us side to you but yet instead thinking that we shall cheat you
over the balance of 25, 200 INR you are about to pay. Sir this is ridiculous why
would you think of a thing like that while we have larger amount of drums sets
worth over 252, 200 INR in your name and address ready fro delivery to you today
compared the balance of 25, 200 YOU you are about to pay and received your order
in one peace in good faith.
Thirdly, that "YOU
SUGGEST WE SHOULD NOT DELIVER ANYTHING NOW AND RECALL ALL THE CONSIGNMENT BACK
TO BASE" Mr. Ben if you are paying the balance of 25, 200 INR is for
your own good and able to avoid you DEMURAGE BILLING AND SECURITY WATCH DOWN
PAYMENT OF MORE EXPENSES because if the parcel stay more longer days ON HOLD
all these extra charges will set in which you and our management will have to
bear the cost together and may lead to DEDUCTION on your actual paid 25, 000 INR
resulting to only 40-50% refund and all these will only set in if the ready to
deliver to you parcel stayed longer days ON HOLD and you will not like this
happening and same way these are all what we are trying to avoid for you here
to ensure you get your order delivered to you since yesterday and today in good
faith but first as decided and concluded by the board of directors for us to trust
you more you will have to Pay-in the balance of 25, 200 INR today soon so that
the transit can be completed and order delivered to you on time in less than 5
hours today.
Lastly; that "YOU

Sir there is a new directives from the board of directors and management that
all outstanding consignment to deliver immediately must be secured and covered

You have paid for the

And as mentioned 50%
proposed to pay = 113, 300 INR

going by the 50% of the remaining 13in1 products that will be left after you
received your order will be 113, 300 INR for you to pay. But the good news is
that My Boss and some of the board directors are against the bill that you
should pay-in instead amount as low as 28, 300 INR and get delivery first thing
tomorrow simply because you are an individual not a company holder.
Mr. Ben, these
measures are taken because of the terrible incident occurred just few days till
date and has affect all outstanding parcel on hold for delivery. Therefore, you
are to pay-in the amount of 28, 300 INR first thing tomorrow before you received
delivery of the Vintage drum set along with the rest units without any delay.
