Oriental Insurance Company — Very poor service by oriental insurance company.

Address:Ratnagiri, Maharashtra

I, the undersigned, mr. Karan pratapsinh bhosle, (Mobile - [protected]) i purchased a tata dumper (Tipper) l. P. K. 2518, registration no mh08h2528 on 19 / 10 / 2013. I got the complete insurance of this vehicle covered by oriental insurance co. Ltd. Zadgaon branch, ratnagiri. This vehicle was stolen on 18 / 04 / 2014 from padve, tal. Rajapur, dist ratnagiri (Maharashtra) . The incident occurred within less than six months from the date of purchase. We filed a written complaint (F. I. R.) about the theft in the morning of 19 / 04 / 2014 at the sagari police station, nate and also intimated oriental insurance co. Ltd. And bank of maharashtra (Financier) by telephone and also by e - mail. In addition to that i personally visited the office oriental insurance co. Ltd. And also informed them in person on 21 / 04 / 2015. At that time we were given a list of documents required for the filing of the insurance claim by oriental insurance co. Ltd. I started to submit the documents as per the list given to me. I kept all the papers ready except the ' a ' summary (A permission from the rajapur court to stop the investigation) in august 2014. Then i submitted all the documents to oriental insurance co. Ltd. In september 2014 and asked them to check if all the documents required for passing of the claim are furnished by me. Hounouring my request all the documents were checked. To pass the claim i was informed that the ‘ a ‘ summary (Order to stop the inquiry given by the court) in very essential & only on the submission of this document the said claim could be passed. Accordingly i started to follow up for getting the courts order but unfortunately i could not get the court order to stop the investigation (‘ a ‘ summary) for the next four to five months. But during this period (From the date of the theft, about nine to ten months i. E. April 2014 to march 2015) i was unable to pay the emi’s of the bank loan. Since the source of income was stolen i faced a heavy financial crisis and since i could not pay the loan emi’s even the bank started to demand the repayment of the loan amount. Under these circumstances i kept on following up with oriental insurance co. Ltd. And again submitted the set of documents except ‘ a ‘ summary (On 16 / 02 / 2105 and 10 / 03 / 2015) requesting them to settle the said claim. On both the occasions the set of documents were received by them demanding the court’s order to be submitted. Other than this i was not told to furnish any more documents on the above mentioned dates (On 16 / 02 / 2105 and 10 / 03 / 2015) . Later when i submitted the rajapur court’s order dated 30 / 03 / 2015 to stop the investigation along with the set of documents submitted earlier on 20 / 04 / 2015 to oriental insurance co. Ltd. Office and again requested them to settle the claim at the earliest. All the documents were again collected at this time & i was assured that the claim would be cleared shortly. No further action was taken on my claim documents for the next fifteen to twenty days. When i inquired about the said claim status to the concerned office & the branch manager of the insurance company i was told to furnish the license extract (Document) of the driver who was on the stolen vehicle. Since the lapse of 13 months (One year and one month since the vehicle was stolen) from the date of the theft i am not in contact with the then driver mr. Kasim ansari. Still i tried to get the extract from the hazaribaug, zarkhand rto office who informed me that the extract was not possible to be furnished in this manner. When i informed the oriental insurance co. Ltd. About the same they informed me that they will try to arrange the extract from the hazaribaug rto office and till date are been informed that still they are trying to arrange the extract for so many days. Hence frustrated i again went to the office of oriental insurance co. Ltd. Again for the follow up of the claim on 21 / 05 / 2015 and also informed them that i would be forced to approach the consumer court through a letter on which they informed that the extracts for the vehicle & the drivers license is essential without which the claim cannot be processed and if i approach the consumer court i will only be responsible for the delay or the outcome of the same. Submission of the original documents and the extract of the vehicle was possible for me which i had already submitted but i was only informed or demanded about the driver’s license & the extract till 11 / 05 / 2015.

This entire process is almost now completing 14 months. The vehicle was the only source of income for me & my family, which being stolen has created a very big financial crisis in my life. In addition to this the bank from which the vehicle loan was taken is continously following up with me for the repayment of the loan which was taken to purchase the vehicle.

In case of accidental insurance claim it is understandable to get the driver’s license along with its extract. But in case of theft of a parked vehicle is it really necessary for the driver’s license extract? If it is so important then why is it not informed to the claimant on the initial day itself?

All above events only conclude that the claimant is purposefully tortured mentally, physically and financially. Instead of asking for all the papers at one time why deliberately one paper is asked after the earlier submission and next paper asked after the one more submission just to pass time. In addition after the document is submitted the next flaw is only pointed out after 15 to 20 days and the delay in passing the claim is deliberately done by the insurance company. Hence i humbly request the concerned authorities to take a note of all above and take necessary action.

Today it almost 15 months. Please help to settle this issue. My mobile no. [protected]. My email id is [protected]@gmail.com
