I have a Skoda Octavia which was bought in July 2015. Recently made an outstation trip during which the battery drained completely and went dead. Car had to be jump-started twice and I brought it down to Trichy Gurudev motors. On examination, the battery was found dead. Battery is still under warranty. But Skoda refused to give me the warranty saying that I had installed a rear view camera which had caused the problem and hence the battery went dead.. This is impossible to believe. How can one rear view camera cause a battery to go dead. My car is an automatic transmission so the car will not even start if it's in reverse gear. The rear view camera is connected to a single rear light. It's impossible to cause drain and let alone make a battery go dead in one year. Very disappointed with Skoda. On inquiry they escaped saying that it is not an OEM camera being sold. The joke is, Skoda sells it's OEM rear view cameras now and I wonder how those will not cause the same problem. Kindly help me and let me know how to proceed.
