Skoda India — Skoda Rapid Ambition 2012 model Fuel injector issue

Address:Bangalore, Karnataka

Hi, Our Skoda Rapid Ambition 1.6 TDI, bought in October 2012, recently had an issue of a blinking "Emission and coil" indicator, in between a drive. When it was taken to the Bangalore KR Puram service station, they diagnosed and the issue seems to be with Fuel injection system. The service station has informed us that they have sent a detailed report to the Skoda technical team and the reply is expected by Jan 27th. The initial reason seems to be fuel adulteration, but as all car owners, we fill it from the PSU outlets like Bharat Petroleum, HP etc, so we are wondering about the reliability of a Skoda ignition system to be faulty in two years. The Skoda service guys also informed us the cost of 4 such fuel injectors as Rs.80000/- and since it is outside our warranty, we may have to bear a part of its cost. After a detailed research, we found that there were many vehicles in the same service station with the same problem over the last couple of months, which definitely raises a question on the reliability of a world class automobile manufacturer. This is after a paid service in October 2014, with a thorough checkup done on the car, with all service needs requested by the Service team, for an amount close to Rs.18000. Having said this, we sincerely hope that your technical team will diagnose the issue in detail and let us know the best way forward. From the financial perspective, we believe that Skoda India will bear the maximum cost, for its unreliability in this case, and value your esteemed customers. Thanks, Vipin Nair

Recently I too faced similar issues with my fuel injector. Been in the automotive industry for the last couple of years but has not seen a diesel fuel injector fail this prematurely. My car has covered approx 30k kms and has a failure of 3rd cyl injector. A search in the internet shows few customers with this issue and not only that, there is also a service advisory on the injector fault. Called up the Skoda help line to get more info, but of no help, The maximum I could get after long conversation and repeated "extremely sorry" wordings from the help line attendant, was the mail id of the skoda service manager. If the service advisroy is true, why did'nt the service center tell me the same and proceed to replace the injectors? Let me write to the mail id and see if I get more info.
Dear Mr. Vipin, please share your vehicle registration no. or contact details and our representative will get in touch with you to resolve the issue.

Hi, Our Skoda Rapid Ambition 1.6 TDI, bought in November 2012, recently had an issue of a blinking "Engine and coil" indicator, in between a drive. When it was taken to the Chennai(ambattur) service station, they diagnosed and the issue seems to be with Fuel injection system. The service station has informed us that they have sent a detailed report to the Skoda technical team. The initial reason seems to be fuel adulteration, but as all car owners, we fill it from the PSU outlets like Bharat Petroleum, HP etc, so we are wondering about the reliability of a Skoda ignition system to be faulty in two years. The Skoda service guys also informed us the cost of 4 such fuel injectors as Rs.1, 04, 000/- and since it is outside our warranty, we may have to bear a part of its cost. After a detailed research, we found that there were many vehicles in the same service station with the same problem over the last couple of months, which definitely raises a question on the reliability of a world class automobile manufacturer. This is after a paid service in May 2016, with a thorough checkup done on the car, with all service needs requested by the Service team, for an amount close to Rs.18000. Having said this, we sincerely hope that your technical team will diagnose the issue in detail and let us know the best way forward. Hi this is Radha Krishna my skoda rapid also had the same issue with the fuel injectors it seems to be a common issue with the Rapids and I don't know why skoda is not replacing them as it seems to be the issue with the manufacturer we have never serviced the car outside Mahavir skoda service centre sanathnagar and we always fuel up at the same service station and the last service on the car was December 2016 and they had no clue about this issue and now they simply rang me up and asked me to pay ₹92000 to fix the issue. I can provide you with my registration details and contact details can skoda solve this issue?
Same problem for my Skoda Rapid that has done 75, 000 kms in 5 years. One fine day I saw this red blinking glow bulb symbol. Stopped the vehicle and called the Skoda call centre immediately. They said I can drive the vehicle not more than 30-40 kms. So I reached home within 15kms and sent the vehicle for servicing that is 7 kms away. Initially the service advisor said it would cost me 1 lakh for replacing the fuel injectors and asked me to pay advance to procure the spares. I objected such high cost and asked reasons for failure and later wrote to Skoda. So they did further diagnosis and the estimation now stands at 2.5 lakh rupees saying the entire fuel injection system to be replaced. One thing is for sure, if you buy a Skoda be prepared for such unpleasant surprises any time. I am still clueless how to proceed further. The vehicle service cost is half of the value of my car and Skoda says it is normal wear and tear. Neither covered under warranty nor by the Insurance.
I also had the same issue to my fuel injection system, for my Skoda Rapid 2012 . One of the injectors failed and I need to pay around 25000 to replace that. It looks like a common issue and Skoda company should replace this faulty fuel injection systems free of cost.
Hi this is Srinivasa k my skoda rapid also had the same issue with the fuel injectors it seems to be a common issue with the Rapids and I don't know why skoda is not replacing them as it seems to be the issue with the manufacturer we have never serviced the car outside Mahavir skoda service centre vizag and we always fuel up at the same service station. and they had no clue about this issue. They have keep my car for 5 days and they are unable diagnose the issue. Finally I said no need to do any anything give me my car like that I said and I have taken car with the same condition back to my home. It's far more than 175kms I travelled trice to showroom for the same issue. Even it will not cover under any warranty as well. I have wrote a mail to skoda India Ahmadabad. But there is no reply at all. Even servicing is also very worst what ever they are doing is not yet all good. I can provide you with my registration details and contact details can skoda solve this issue ?. Atleast skoda has to taken necessary action about this injectors. While travelling to other places we can't assume which bunk is good or bad. B'coz of their amount they are doing very very worst mistakes like mixing of kerosene and other fluids. B'coz of that we are suffering while comparing with other brands of vehicles anywhere they pour oil it's going on smooth and working properly but why can't skoda like that even now a days every vehicle is same like that. Atleast try to take a necessary action. When we r using the same vehicle in India. Other wise please close in India and go back to Swiss. B'coz in Swiss they won't mix any other oils in diesel of petrol.
I am going to open thread about SKODA RAPID 2012 DIESEL INJECTOR ISSUE on TEAM BHP. For the sake Complete peace of mind don't purchase any SKODA RAPID or SKODA INDIA VEHICLE.

1. SKODA INDIA won't replace any faulty piece or won't recall any car for any manufacturing defects unlike HONDA, HYUNDAI or MARUTI

2. They are well known for very large bill when car is at SERVICE CENTER for maintenance.

3. They are having very less quantity of spare parts at service center. They keep only running parts like AIR FILTER, OIL FILTER, FUEL FILTER, BRAKE PAD, POLLEN FILTER, LIGHT etc only. For rest of the things they will order and you have to keep your car there only.

Don't buy SKODA CAR
No need to replace injector every time it can be repaired and calibration done again cost us around 3000 to 20000 depend on fault
There are authorized centers of injector repair of injector manufacturers
