[Resolved] State Bank of India — Request for refund of income tax deducted on interest on provident fund deposit | |||
Sir, 1. Respectfully I have to say that I am serving in INDIAN AIR FORCE and have DSP(Defence salary package) account with State Bank of India. My account no is [protected]. 2. I have withdrawn Provident fund Rs 325000/- from my INDIAN AIR FORCE which was credited in my SBI DSP account. The said SBI branch has transferred Rs 318000/- @interest of 9% to modified Balance(just like Fixed deposit)(Account no [protected]) on 10 Jan 13. The said SBI has deducted an amount on account of Tax. As per policy of Income Tax Act, 1961, Tax on interest on Provident Fund Deposit is exempted. 4. I have already complaint on the said matter to SBI Customer service vide OPS[protected] on 04 Feb 14. I have submitted written complaint to the Manager, SBI, Old Air field, Srinagar, J & K 190007 copy to Sri H Kulshreshtha/ Smt Rashmi Fauzdar, Banking Ombudsman, Reserve bank Of India Building, 2nd Floor, 6, Sansad Marg, New Delhi -110001. 5. I have received a call from SBI Manager ( Mob No- [protected]) on 06 Aug 14. I discussed the case with her. But her response was negative. 6. Kindly look in to the matter and kindly give instruction to State Bank of India to credit the same amount my account at the earliest.
