Tata Sky — Cheating innocent customers

We have been loyal customers of Tata Sky since the last 7 years. Our Subscriber ID is [protected]. However, our recent experience with Tata Sy has been appalling to say the least. The problem started about 15-20 days ago when the screen would go blank for few seconds every now and then while watching various channels on T.V. On filing a complaint with Tata Sky service centre, a technician was sent to our place to fix the problem. The technician not only failed to detect the problem, he replaced our set top box which was working perfectly fine with a new set top box without informing us that the set up box would cost us 330 rupees. Since the problem cropped up again not more than 5 minutes after the technician had left our place, we immediately called him up to let him know that the problem has not been fixed. Not only did the technician not bother to come again to rectify the problem, we were shocked to find Rs.170/- (in addition to Rs.330/- for the set top box) being deducted from our account this morning. When we again called up at the customer care to inquire why they had deducted Rs.330 for the set top box when there was no problem with it to begin with, they informed us that our set up box was faulty and hence, they changed it. Clearly, there is no logic in what they are saying as even with the "new" set top box, our earlier problem of screen going blank has not only been aggravated but infact, a new problem (of sound) has also been added.
There is a limit to which Tata Sky can fool people and cheat them. Replacing our set top box which was in perfectly good condition with a new setup box and that too without informing us that it would cost us Rs.330 is unworthy of a service provider as renowned as Tata Sky. Also, charging Rs.170 as service charge for the services which have not been rendered to us to date is a shameful act on the part of Tata Sky service providers.
