[Resolved]  Vodafone India — Sharp practice of overcharging customers even with unlimited mobile data

Address:Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh

Another instance of how Vodafone thinks the consumers are some illiterates who can be fooled around and overcharged at will. I was also charged d2c_ndtv_valuepk_9 for 99+taxes in Nov 14's cycle for my phone [protected]. Innumerable emails and phone calls doesnt seem to help. They give out the same lawyer approved, corporate self-righteous spiel. Exerpts from my chat: "Sir, we assure you that our billing systems are robust and accurate and charges are as per data pack selected by you” and the gem: "Sir, the same is charged after you have used the same.". You tell them how that is not possible, they come up with standard "I regret for the inconvenience caused to you.". The moment they realize you will stand your ground, they will eagerly propose to raise a waiver request for you, to get out of this conversation and let some other exec repeat the same to you, on another day! In all fairness, their billing system might be robust as they claim. But the issue here is perhaps o[censored]NFAIR BUSINESS PRACTICES! Nobody seems to bother or hear our side of the story. Is this a ploy to make bottomlines for their corporate partners? NDTV in this instance? As I work in a high security env where smart phones are kept in lock and key with security, the time of this download, it was not even with me! So, we can safely say that this is sort of a sharp practice being indulged in by Vodafone to milk the customers and who are forced to pay! Can someone even bother to look at our plight? Any information how to approach this matter in the consumer courts? My no: [protected]. Thanks. Imran. PS - On a more sarcastic note, this is how my conversation ended for the time being with their exec: "{Tanishka}Sir, the data pack is not applicable for the chargeable website. {Tanishka}Please confirm if you are online? {Imran}Yes {Imran}what are these chargeable websites? {Imran}I can assure that i dont look at ndtv in any way... and as i said earlier, I dont have phone with me at the time you mention {Imran}I had also asked a list of such "chargeable websites" to be provided {Tanishka}Sir, the details of the chargeable websites are not avialable with us. {Tanishka}Sir, I am raising the request for the waiver of the same. {Imran}THose people came back saying they cant... so I want proof on how you can say I downloaded it... {Imran}DOnt you see how bad it sounds when you say you dont have the list of chargeable websites? {Imran}So you can charge basically on anything you deem free {Imran}This is bare injustice to the customers {Imran}very opaque system that seems to be favouring your corporate partners {Tanishka}I regret for the inconvenience caused to you. {Imran}Thanks... let me know if you can escalate this and get me the list (from someone who has this list...i suspect at the top management perhaps, if they care to respond to customers i.e.) {Tanishka}Sir, I am raising the request for the waiver of the download charges for the your conveneience. {Tanishka}Please confirm if you are online? {Imran}THanks. Can you also add additional information like my phone's not being with me at the time of this? {Tanishka}Sure Sir. {Imran}Lest it will be the same store where they tell me "Sir, we assure you that our billing systems are robust and accurate and charges are as per data pack selected by you {Imran}(nottt!) {Imran}:) {Imran}or, your billing might be robust, but business practices are a bit sharp and unfair {Tanishka}Sir, the request number for the same is [protected] {Tanishka}The request will be processed within 2 hours. {Imran}Please add more information to the ticket you are raising {Imran}this has already been informed to them couple of times by now... with no satisfactory reply {Tanishka}Sir, I have mentioned all the information. {Imran}awesome {Imran}thanks... Also, is there any list of customers like us who are charged for such services? Or perhaps an "exception list"? {Imran}I want to be added there as well... just to avoid this conversation in future... {Tanishka}No Sir. {Imran}really appreciate your help! {Imran}oh ah {Tanishka}Thank you Sir, {Tanishka}Is there anything else that I can help you with? {Imran}nope, this will be sufficient {Imran}unless i have to repeat this same conversation again {Tanishka}Okay Sir. {Tanishka}Thank you for contacting Vodafone Web-Chat. Have a wonderful day! The Vodafone Service Desk Agent has left. "
