[Resolved] Whirlpool — cheating, fraud in repairing and charging for repairing refrigerator by authorized whirlpool service center | |||
From P.V. Chandy Arcadia, Doctors, Lane U.C.C. P.O. Alwaye, 683102. My whirlpool refrigerator WRN32RGG3 bought about 9 years ago developed cooling problems in-September 2009..The service staff from Jayem Associates, Whirlpool Authorised Service Centre, Alwaye, who checked it stated the problem to be the faulty motor of the cooling fan. The fan motor was replaced at a cost of- Rs.2400. The cooling problem was not solved. The senior mechanic who came next said the Damper-Thermostat and the Timer had to be replaced. This was done after taking the fridge to their service centre, at a cost of Rs. 2500 plus transportation charges. We have spent a total of Rs. 5180 on useless repairs. Inspite of all this, the problem was not solved. Another senior mechanic who came next said the problem could be due to insufficient gas .After a lot of phone calls and arguments, it was again taken to the service centre. After a few weeks they stated it was working perfectly, and brought it back. But the poor and faulty cooling still persisted, and the fridge became practically useless. The service staff were still not able to identify the fault. They refused to admit that there was something wrong .We did not expect a reputed company like Whirlpool to treat customers in such an irresponsible and callous manner. 1. Ice did not form in the ice tray. The temperature in the upper freezer chamber remained at 1degree Celsius. 2. The thermostat in the freezer is fixed at a particular position. It cannot be changed to “cooler” to make ice. 3. Uncooked fish and meat kept in the lower freezer chamber remained half frozen, and could not be used for fear of food poisoning. 4. The cooked food stored in the body spoiled within a day, as the temperature in the chiller and the lower shelves stayed in between 12 degrees and 14 degrees Celsius After suffering for around 6 months, we brought in another mechanic who identified the problem immediately. The so-called authorized experts had fixed the fan the wrong way, preventing proper cooling-After replacing the fan and fixing it properly, the fridge works well. But will the whirlpool service station or the company compensate for the money spent in doing needless repairs by utterly irresponsible service mechanics? doesn't the company have any responsibility in appointing well qualified and honest mechanics? This has given very bad publicity to both Whirlpool brands and its service station. Was this information helpful? | |||
