We had taken the services of magicbricks to select a vendor for interior work of my apartment (in Prestige Finsbury Park, Bangalore). The contract was finalized where Magicbricks offered the following:
1. Support and management till the finish of apartment interior work.
2. Free complimentary chimney from the brand kaff
3. A complimentary Amazon voucher of Rs.5000
4. A free tenant search from magicbricks end
Out of the above 4 deliverables, magicbricks only met the first one, and the following were the issues with the other points.
2. Free complimentary chimney from the brand Kaff - The chimney provided to us was of brand Elica, which were not informed of before-hand
3. A complimentary Amazon voucher of Rs.5000 - This was agreed verbally over the phone, and we accepted the contract on the condition that the voucher will be provided. The salesperson (Ajeeth Choudhary) kept stalling by saying that it will be delivered after the installation is completed. Once the installation was complete, he said that he will have to check with the upper management. After a few days he comes back and says that the quotation was competitive hence they cannot provide the voucher. Magicbricks clearly went against what was promised in the contract.
4. A free tenant search from magicbricks end - Being first-time owners we were relying on magicbricks to start the process as soon as possible and assist us. Here again, the salesperson stalled it initially mentioning that he can check only after the interior installation is complete. We trusted their response, however after the installation was completed, he said that another team in Gurgaon handles the rental advertisement and he has gotten in touch with them regarding our request. After stalling for a few days we received a response from him that they do not service the area (Prestige Finsbury Park) and hence cannot put up an ad for free. This was not true as we can see rental ads for apartments in the same society from other users.
I can support the above claims by showing email exchanges.
We couldn't spend more time chasing Magicbricks we had to go to other vendors. I honestly feel that we should be compensated for the loss of time (in posting an ad for our new apartment) and money (Amazon voucher, free magicbricks ad post). Companies like magicbricks, which offer consumer services should not get away so easily by promising the world and then leaving the consumer hanging.
