Dear Sirs,
BP No : [protected]
Sub : Gas Consumption security deposit
I have a Gas Connection with Mahanagar Gas and I have been paying my bills regularly for the past 5 years. My bill normally comes to less than INR 300/- for two months. I have paid a Security deposit of Rs 500/- which is already lying with Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL) . Recently MGL has billed us for additional security deposit of Rs 125 per month and plans to increase the deposit to Rs 750/.
Since my bill for two months is less than Rs 300/- at an average, I think that the deposit they are requesting is too much. Should I pay this deposit?
I am sure that there must be other consumers also who are affected by this.
Kindly advice.

As per the call with the customer care executive of MGL, they will charge Rs.700 every year if the average consumption for last 6 bills goes above Rs. 750. This is insane. If I use the MGL, say, for 10 years, then I would end up paying Rs. 7000 in security deposit. For 20 years, it would be Rs. 14000 in excess just for security deposit. There should be a limit on such deposit. They cannot just keep our hard earned money just in the name of security deposit.
What is the solution for this? How can I file a case against the company for such practices?
Someone please help on this.
