Hi - I live in the UK and bought a Smart Plus 6L Pressure Cooker ( model 57050) because of the life time guarantee that comes with it.
However, it is not possible for me to continue using it unless I can get the necessary spare parts which have broken :-
Pressure Cooker Safety Plug SKU:91801 (which incidentally contantly falls out so I am wondering if it is even fit for purpose)
Pressure Cooker Hold Down Cup (SKU: 91803)
I also need a new Gasket (SKU:57071) which is also Sold Out.
These items have been Sold Out on the Prestige website for months.
I have contacted Prestige on thir web site re these unavailable parts. They have replied thus - "As of the moment we only have the date for the gasket which will be on March 2022, however for the safety plug we still do not have any exact date. For the Hold down cup it is no longer available of discontinued already and we have change the specification. It is now a metal strip however you would need a new top handle which is already out of stock. I will forward this complaint to the right department as requested. Again I'm really sorry for the inconvenience. Rest assured that we will send this spare parts as soon as they are back in stock."
I then commented that under the circumstances of Prestige not being able to fulfill its guarantee of lifelong use ( as that is how I interpret a long delay in replacement parts which I have been trying to obtain since October 2021) I feel that Prestige should supply me with a replacement pressure cooker but was offered a 20% discount code! My cooker originally cost me almost £75 and a 20% discount does not equate.
In response to this 20% discount offer I wrote:-
... That is a ridiculous offer.Prestige are failing to support me in using a product I have purchased in good faith with the expectation to be able to use it virtually continuously for life. A delay in being able to use teh product of 6 months ( at the earliest is completely unaccepatable. Please let me have the address to which to send my complaint - ie your official Complaints Department. Meanwhile Prestige leaves me no option but to approach an Ombudsman / Consumner Complaints and media that try to safeguard the interests of the public such as the well established Which Magazine.
I also enquired why the metal strip is now being used with a new handel instead of the original design of Holder Cup and was told that it was to make the pressure cooker "sturdy" however, you also have to buy a new handleto accommodate the new meatl strip - and I imagine have to have to go through some kind of learning curve in order to be able to fit the new handel plus metal strip which is completely different to the current design of Holder Cup!
Please advise as to what I can an should do re this mtter. Thank you.
