I have been using airtel broadband from April-2021. This is a postpaid service of INR 499+GST.
I asked airtel to close my connection on 30th January, 20222 they asked for various reasons and said that my services will be stopped.
On 28th February, 2022 I got a call from airtel and they mentioned that I can put the connection on hold (Safe custody) for 300+GST for 3 months. The condition was that during the period if I want to reinstate my connection then I will have to pay the usage charges for the days services has been active. I obliged and activated safe custody for 3 months. The safe custody period was from 28th February 2022 to 28th May, 2022. So ideally I should not get any bill apart from safe custody charge for the mentioned duration If I did not ask to resume services.
Now comes the torture. Airtel generated a bill of 500+GST on 3rd march, 2022 for Safe custody (Promise was of 300+GST). I called customer care multiple times and finally they gave me a wave off of some amount and my total bill was 413 (Including GST). Still higher than actual promise.
Coming to 3rd April, 2022, I was given a bill of 500+GST. Again I called Airtel customer care and they waved off 472 Rupees from bill mentioning that the connection was active from 4th March to 2nd April and it was their mistake so bill got generated. Again I had to pay remaining amount (~100 rupees) for no reasons.
Coming to 3rd May I got a bill of 1119.92 rupees. Upon calling customer care they mentioned that on 3rd April I asked to initiate safe custody, so 500+GST is safe custody charges and remaining amount is of connection being active from 3rd April to 2nd May.
Called Airtel customer care multiple times and they mentioned that it is a mistake, but they are not giving me refund. Everytime they are giving same response that they have escalated the issue and it will be resolved in some time. Resolution never happens.
I also asked them multiple times in this duration to close my connection but they are not taking the connection closure request. I am forcefully being charged for the services which I am not using at all. Was this information helpful? |

This is a red flag for everyone taking postpaid connection of Airtel. Don't fall into trap. They will change your connection status and accuse you of making changes in your connection and falsely charge you hefty amount. Please save your money and go for prepaid services.
