Akosha.com — hdfc credit card - unauthorized debits

1. I was a account holder as well as credit card holder for over 15/20 years
2. The formalities and customer care executives were quite good initially
3. Service started deteriorating slowly and one way correspondence started
4.in the sense, you listen to their demands and ultimatums, rather than sorting customers complaints.
5. I was fed up of their behaviour and surrendered my card in oct2017, by submitting my grievances in the authorized format.
6. Total dues was rs.33, 000/ (Approx) including oct'17 billing.
7. During sept & oct'17, credit card statement had some amounts were debited to my account, which i had not authorized.
8. I settled bills by paying rs.30, 000/ as final settlement and raised a query to the unauthorised debits. I also surrendered my credit card at the same time.
9. My message, cheque for the amount and card was received by their staff at chennai office. Courier receipt was enclosed. They encashed the cheque, which proves that my payment, my query and my surrendered card was accepted by them.
10. There was a long lull and only in march 2018, they sent me a reminder saying credit card outstanding was rs.3540/including non payment charges etc. I immediately replied to them that there was no mail or correspondence from them in this connection not clarification of the dubious amounts.
11. Then i mailed them about the problem and marked copies of my mail to mr. Debjyothi datta, who is a special officer assigned to solve such complaints. I doubt wether there is any such officer for attending to complaints. Secondly the mail id of the officer doesn't exist.
12. Mr. Parag of the bank regularly sends reminders but doesn't talk about irregularities in the accounts or customer complaints. Even this has been brought to his attention.
13. Finally after getting fed up of reminders, all the mails including my replies were marked to ombudsmen of hdfc appointed by reserve bank. No response from this party either.
14. Now i receive a mail from bank asking me to clear rs.8500/ towards credit card dues, including non payment etc. Etc. This reached me on 20th april 2019. Not a reminder, it's a threatening that legal action is being insisted against me for recovering rs.8500/. But no clarification on unauthorized entries. Reply sent to credit card division, chennai, mr. Debjyothi, and also ombudsman, hdfc, bangalore wing.
15. Card surrendered in oct2017 and chennai office received on 1s t nov2017. No customer complaints, no explanation, no calls etc.
16. Meanwhile i lodged a complaint with their complaint wing. Case registered 7464785 and remark came as a reply "it has been responded and closed" hdfc bank.
17. All my messages to their various reminders is stored and time and again sent to all concerned. I can also present it now, if needed.
Now i feel i have gone thru their torture for this paltry amount and would like to lodge my complaint with the consumer forum. Of course the amount is small. Grown from 3500/ to 8500/. Mainly o[censored]nauthorized sums and late fee and non payment etc. But banks can't take each and every customer for granted and threaten with legal actions etc.
I would like to go thru the procedure and file a consumer case and also demand for compensation for all the trouble created. Totally negligent staff behaviour and non existing officers.
Please advise. And also let me know where to submit my mails and surrendering letter to hdfc cards division.

I would be obliged if you can lodge a complaint as per norms of akosha. I will be happy to lodge a complaint rather than pay up to their illegal demands.

Dear hdfc, you should keep the customer always happy. He or she should never complaint about your services. if you won't solve your customers problems, then you will loose some precious long term customers.

So take the necessary steps to solve his complaints
