I had placed an order on Amazon on 28th March, 2023 (Order ID:[protected]) for 3 items.
The order was delivered to me on March 31st and the quality of it was so bad that the very next day I tried to place a return request for it but was unable to do so from my app so I called their customer care number and asked them to create a return request for me.
The executive I spoke to asked me what mode would I like the refund in and I specifically told him that I want the refund in my bank account. He said if a bank account is added I will get my refund in it, I told him I have added it. He checked it and to confirm he told me the last 3 digits of my account number and asked me to confirm if this is the account I want a refund in. I confirmed and said yes this is the account I want the refund in.
They said my refund of Rs. 661.29 will be processed after the pickup, the pick up happened and I returned the order in the condition I received it in. Now I waited for my refund, usually when the money is credited I get a message from my bank. I received no message.
Which led me to check my bank statement and I saw that I had not received the refund in my bank account. To check the status of my refund I went to the Amazon app and checked it and it was written that it will reflect in my account in 7 days but it had not come so I checked again for refund and I saw that they had refunded me the amount as an Amazon Pay Gift Card of Rs. 661.29. Even after telling them that I want the refund in my bank account, without my consent they refunded me the amount as a gift card to me.
I called them several times to resolve my issue and refund the amount to me in my bank account but they are saying that it is not possible to do so. At first they kept telling me that I will need to speak to this department that department and that I will get a call. On call they refused to transfer that amount to my account. I tried using that money to pay for my FastTag and to make a purchase but none of those methods worked and I was unable to use that refunded amount. Agitated at my lost money I demanded them to close my Amazon account in hopes that I will then get my refund in my account but they said that if I close my account that money will be gone and I will not receive it in my bank account.
Now I am here with with a refund gift card I am unable to use which is virtually useless and Amazon is saying we've refunded your money we can't do anything now. I am from a middle class family where every penny is very important and precious to make ends meet and Amazon is not willing to help me out or return my money.
I am deeply troubled by this issue and I am humbly requesting you to please help me with this issue and make them return the refund amount in my bank account please. I have recently been laid off and every penny is very important to me. Please I am requesting you with folded hands, help me get my refund back in my account.
