My Mother has installed Anu Solar a few years back at her house and basis that experience, we were keen to install the same at our apartment. Anu Solar sales representative made a good presentation and took a Rs 30000 advance cheque for installation within 2 days.
After more than two weeks of calling and being promised everyday that they would deliver 'today', Anu Solar sent a technician who stated that solar panels cannot be installed in our apartment because our roof is slanting and is oriented to the North, where there is no direct sunlight. To be effective, solar panels have to face South. Also there was too much tree cover/shade for it to be effective.
Since the solution does not work for our apartment, I asked for a refund. After following up for over 4 weeks with the managing director, Mr T J Joseph, because I was getting no response from the sales people, I finally got a refund of Rs. 28, 000.
Anu Solar made a wrongful sale, based on false promises and because they had the advance payment they took advantage of a consumer's helplessness. Why should companies be allowed to cheat consumers this way?
I want a complete refund and if I am constrained to go to consumer court I will also ask for damages and the cost of time and trouble taken.
