Central Board Of Secondary Education [CBSE] — high fee increase - lotus national schools (in) - hyderabad

Respected Sir / Madam,

Sub: Request to take necessary actions to normalize the fee that was hiked by Lotus National School management exponentially – Regarding

Ref: With reference to the information received from LNS Management dated 8th Feb'19

We would like to bring to your kind perusal about our serious concerns of raising the fee by the Lotus National School Management exponentially.

Background:

We received one letter suddenly from LNS Management about the fee hike on 8th Feb'19 from our wards which was showing around 63% hike on the existing fees to our surprise. Then we, parents of LNS, collectively reached out to Head of Campus (Hydrguda LNS Campus) to explain our concerns and she arranged for a meeting with the management. Post that, they have discussed internally with their senior management and adjusted to some extent which is still beyond the capacity of the parents. Along with that, they also mentioned new additional conditions which are mentioned as below:

1. All books and uniforms should be purchased from school premises only. No exception to any parents. But if our elder child has passed out one class and we can use those books to our second child. But this was completely denied by the management and pushing us to buy new set of books from the school. Also they changed the uniform colors to make the parents buy forcefully. this was not informed to any of the parents during the fist meeting. They also made a combo pack of irrelevant items, like, slates, News paper, Bags etc (For all classes of 1 to 10), These prices are quite high (Rs. 8700 per student) compared to open market prices as well.

2. Transportation cost has also increased by 50% which is also not acceptable.

With the sudden increase in school fee and the points mentioned above, it is coming to be more than 50% of overall hike. Also as per CBSE rules, we think, there is no mandate to buy the books from the school as we are getting better discounts from external vendors. Earlier this was not a mandate from the school, but now they are forcing all the parents to buy from school premises.

We submitted one more letter to HoC to reconsider and make the overall fee hike to maximum of 10%. But we got a disappointing message back saying that the management is not going to consider any of the parents’ requests. With this we are left with no option except escalating the issue to your kind perusal to get justice to all. Also for your information, lot of parents started taking Transfer Certificates because of this unbearable fee structure. This LNS is known to be a good budget school, but we could see this getting transformed to a corporate school.

Request you to take an immediate action on this to reduce the fee and also allow us to purchase books from our own interested shop.

Thanks a lot for all your support.

Hyderabad, Your’s faithfully,

31-Mar-2019 LNS Parents Group
