Sir

I bring to your knowledge an issue o[censored]tmost importance which involves the safety of the general public in vadapalani area on all the days of the year.

At present, there is no proper arrangement for the pedestrians to cross the arcot road (Nsk salai) near vijaya hospital / forum vijaya mall in vadapalani. On an average about 5 to10 people cross @ this point once in every 4 to 6 min. People are compelled to use a small gap in the median with a haphazard bump in the middle. Users include patients, ladies, senior citizens & also children. While people are crossing, some of the drivers of 4 & 2 wheelers (In particular) do not pay any care for the pedestrians. A few of them even try to exhibit their heroism by raising the accelerator of the vehicles causing panic.

Hence, i request you to pl arrange to regularize this in a safe manner.in this regard, i suggest the following.
1. Provision of crossing with an automatic signal.
2. Provision of speed breakers with zebra crossing.
3. Punishing those who violate the traffic rules (As only this will result in enforcement of discipline / law).
4. Traffic to be regulated/controlled by manned police. I may not prefer this as this involves strain on a human being, who has to spend time under sun / rain with his own safety involved.

I only wish due to this complaint the authorities should not close the median since a crossing point close to hospital / mall is a must as otherwise it may lead to more dangerous consequences. I shall be thankful if you pl initiate action at the very earliest.

Yours warmly,
K. Govindaraju
