Club Mahindra Holidays — complete unprofessional and unethical attitude of mahindra holidays & resorts india limited (club mahindra)

Dear sir,

1. On 13.08.2018, i paid an amount of inr 2, 90, 600 through credit cards towards purchasing club mahindra red season membership for 25 years through club mahindra’s holiday specialist mr. Deepanshu dhawan from its delhi, pitampura branch.

2. While selling the membership, he had misrepresented many facts some of which are as follows. Later on i came to know about actual truth regarding all these:

- red season members will get confirmed reservation even in pick seasons like new year’s eve in goa even if you book 4 to 5 days in advance. (This is actually not true and nothing is sure and you need to book 4 months in advance)

- club mahindra is having its own resorts in gulmarg & pahalgam in kashmir other than srinagar and you can avail the same just like any other club mahindra properties. (Club mahindra doesn’t have any own property in kashmir and have internal tie ups for which you need to pay extra amount over and above the normal payments to cmh)

- he told that on account of 21st anniversary celebration of club mahindra, company is giving many offers. Last date for all the freebies has already expired but if i pay for the membership by that day (13th august) then he will make sure that i get all the offers otherwise only free cruise offer will be there. Accordingly under pressure, i decided to pay for the membership considering his verbal commitments and having faith on brand mahindra. (Nothing of that sort. Even the offers are running now)

- he told me that actual membership cost is inr 6, 02, 200/- and out of which he is offering me a cash discount of inr 21, 000 and thus final membership cost is inr 5, 81, 200 (Actual membership cost is inr 5, 81, 200/- only and no discount)

- he told me that as you are paying through citibank credit card, inr 5000 food voucher you shall get extra (Nothing of that sort, everybody is getting that irrespective of payment mode)

- he told me that for first two years of your membership, you need not to pay anything even if you stay in rci affiliated resorts/ hotels [nothing of that sort and actually for first two years only rci membership cost @ inr 3750 per year is free. From the very first year you need to pay of rci exchange fees for india/asian @ rs. 8300 appx. (7n/8 days) & rci exchange fees for international is @ rs 25400 appx. (7n/8 days)].

3. When i pointed out to him about the lies and asked for a written confirmation of offers, he sent me the revised offers. False promises made by mr. Deepansu were also known to his manager, mr. Prashant.

4. But all these changed my mind and i lost my belief and decided to quit. Accordingly, i informed to club mahindra’s customer service help desk and also sent e-mail at [protected]@mahindraholidays.com on 23rd august 2018 for cancelling my membership and requested for refund of my entire deposited amount without any deduction.

5. Subsequently on the same day, i spoke with mr. Mani kandan from club mahindra’s customer service and he raised reference number is[protected] regarding my cancellation request.

6. Further, i spoke number of times with club mahindra’s customer service helpdesk representatives, mr. Deepanshu dhawan, other branch representatives; requesting for early cancellation of my membership and refund me my 100% paid amount (Inr 2, 90, 600) without any deductions at the earliest.

7. Till long i did not received any confirmation regarding cancellation of my membership (Even making numerous phone calls & e-mails) and on the other hand they were sending me my membership id as 2832470.

8. After lot of persuasion & writing (2nd september 2018) to mr. Kavinder singh, the managing director & ceo, mahindra holidays & resorts india limited; i received the trailing e-mail dated 4th september 2018 stating that “we confirm you that your cancellation request has been raised in the system & your contract would get cancelled within 90 days. We would also like to inform you that your full refund would also get processed within the same tenure”

9. I immediately made phone call to customer care and requested them for immediate refund but not received any response.

10. Subsequently vide trailing e-mail dated 08th september 2018, i again requested club mahindra authorities (Also marked a copy to sebi) the following:

“it is really unfortunate that you will be holding money for 90 days of a person for no fault of his. You are requested to refund the complete money (Inr 2, 90, 600) immediately and latest by within next 3 days. You have no right to hold the money like this and you are forcing me to approach other law enforcement agencies to seek redressal of my grievances”

11. Till date i have not received any response against my above mentioned e-mail dated 08th september 2018.

12. On 11th september 2018, some lady (Claiming to be from office of the managing director & ceo, mahindra holidays & resorts india limited) called me and assured me to resolve my complain latest by 14th september 2018. But nothing has happened till date.

13. On 14th september 2018, i received sms from club mahindra stating that “your asf invoice for the year 2018 has been generated. Please pay rs. 15300 immediately.” on one hand vide e-mail dated 04th september 2018, club mahindra is intimating that my cancellation request has been raised and on the other hand after 10 days sending such smss. Club mahindra is fooling people and intentionally holding the huge amount of money.

14. On 15th september 2018, i again wrote the trailing e-mail.

With the above deliberation, i strongly protest this dillydallying attitude on the part of club mahindra and request your immediate intervention for the following:

 immediate cancellation of my membership

 refund me my 100% paid amount (Inr 2, 90, 600) without any deductions at the earliest.

This is my earnest request to you that please do expose this complete unprofessional and unethical business dealings on the part of club mahindra and stop harassment of many such customers whose money is kept by club mahindra authorities. These actions on the part of club mahindra is diminishing faith, respect and trust that millions of people are having on brand mahindra.
