[Resolved]  Airtel — fraud call from dubai

I would like to draw your attention regarding the fraud call which came to my airtel number. It was from Dubai and they said they are from international office of AIRTEL. Their number was [protected] and they informed about a lottery which I won worth 10 lakhs. The person tried to ask me my PNB account number and further my address. It was really shocking for me when the customer care executive of AIRTEL told me that there is no such office of AIRTEL in Dubai.

This is a shameful act done .I as user of AIRTEL request you to take some action against this so that in future this happens to nobody else

Airtel Mobile - U.P. West — Missed call from +92 number

Today, 14th Dec' 2011. I got a missed call from +92 [protected]. I would like to know how this call came to me and from where the caller got my number. Also, wanted to know if it is not any kind of malicious call with the intent of mobile hacking.
Hie, even I received this call just now from someone called Ms Pooja no +[protected] saying I had won a 15 Lacs lottery, she told me to call Vijay Kumar singh with no +[protected], who in turn gave me Mumbai Vodafone address. Gandhi Road, Sec No 4, Blg No 2, Surya Plaza, Near Taj Hotel. Also told me someone called Raj Singhania will transfer the money into my account. Of course I knew that they are not Indian nationals as their lingo was very clearly full o[censored]rdu as much as they are trying hard to sound Indian. I was smart to call Vodafone to clarify the same and inform them of the FRAUD, but its really sad as some simple individuals may fall prey to these people and land into massive trouble...pls pls pls be careful.
i also got a call from pakistan code +9230.
thanks to all for this information.

Hi all.

11th May 2012: Same incidence here too. I got a Missed Call from the number ( [protected] ), thought may be a friend of mine, I called back. A person speaking ONLY in HINDI, not even knowing a single word in English or any other languages, asked me to Call back to a particular number ( [protected] ). When I asked the reason, he told "this call is from Amitabh Bachan's Kaun Baneka Crorepati, and you are selected for an Prize Amount of Rs.25 Lakhs in a Lucky Draw conducted in KBC yesterday the 10th May 2012., and Just call back the said number, they will inform u the rest".. (all in Hindi).
As I can't speak in Hindi fluently, I asked my well wisher to speak in Hindi in that particular number. The number given is ( [protected] ).
When we called the number, we heard the Caller-Tune of KBC (Kaun Baneka Crorepati-Amitabh Bachan's welcoming voice) and followed by a Gent voice, that too speaking ONLY in HINDI. When we asked, why they asked us to call back, he told "this call is from AIRTEL, and you are a lucky WINNER among 1000 contest and you are Eligible for Rs.25 Lakhs which has to be claimed within 10 Days from the Call date". And asked me to Call back by Morning 8:30 AM the 12th May 2012. Again and Again he asked us to call by exactly 8:30 AM. We asked him that "why we have to call this number, as a winner you should call and inform us right? and without participating in any competition how come we are selected?".
He said, "If you want the money, you should call back tomorrow 12th May 2012 by exactly 8:30 AM and get us the information of your BANK ACCOUNT, Branch and other details, we will credit the amount in it".

[Here the confusion: One person told KBC WINNER and other person told AIRTEL WINNER., ]
Immediately after disconnecting the call, we called AIRTEL - CUSTOMER CARE '121', and asked about this matter and they told "that number is an IDEA network number and from BIHAR and even informed us to not respond those calls again, if persists, give compliant to POLICE".

Hereby informing all that "DON'T ENCOURAGE SUCH CALLS BY CALLING THEM BACK" and " PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND PEACE".
Government is monitoring all SMS's by means of its Network and 'Messages / Emails' send through Computers/Laptops by means of its IP addresses, where as "WHY CAN'T THEY STOP and TAKE ACTION against such FRAUD CALLS / SMS / EMAILS announcing WINNERS OF LOTTERY by means of DOLLARS / POUNDS / EUROS and ALL OTHER FAKE CALLS ?".
Dear "INDIA", WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH... WHY CAN'T YOU SHOW THE SAME to us by saving us from such frauds and fraudulent activities.
Dear "INDIAN GOVERNMENT", WE PAY YOU SO MUCH as TAX... WE VOTE.. But YOU...

Please take necessary things to save peace and lives.

I got a call from[protected] on 20 June 2012 at 10.52 pm, which I never picked up and saw the missed call in the morning.
I was trying to check the ISD CODE and found this link. Its happening to lot of people. Mine is also airtel no, and how these people get phone numbers is surprising. From the above postings I could read its all about Lottery, They were doing it in the emails few years back and started with the phones. People who are careful and suspicious check the veracity but lot of people are fooled by the mail and calls and start talking with these people and lost money. But the facinating point is that the print and elctronic media are not putting any effort to bring it to the notice of the public. Hope some News Paper or TV channels will do it..
Hi Airtel,

I am Raju, this morning at around i got a call from a number [protected] but since i was on another line talking to my cousin i did not receive this number. However, after few minutes i.e. after i finished talking to my cousin i called back to this number curious to know who called me and i could hear a voice mail message telling to me something in urdu (Probably) which i did not understand. Further, at this juncture i realized and someting passed my mind making me to vaguely remember that numbers starting with a certain series should not be received and then googled to find out from where this number originates and to my dismay found +92 is the code of Pakistan. After a google search and reading other information on the internet now i can conclude that the caller must be some idiotic, rogue, thug, scamster, fraduster from some region of this Rogue nation (Pakistan) which has become bane to the world and its peace loving people. I request you to take or find measures to curb this Pakistani originating menace of conning innocent fellow citizens of my nation because people might out of curiosity thinking that it could be an important call from any of their near or dear ones might receive the call. Further not all would know that +92 is a Pakistani code and imagine if these thugs can get hold of some innocent guys in the rural areas of our country?
