[Resolved]  Airtel Chennai — Unusual Broadband billing

Hello,

I have a airtel broadband connection tel:[protected].
I had taken the connection under the 770/- 8gb download plan with a wireless router which was password protected.
Suddenly, last month I received a massive bill of ~28, 500/-(showing almost 49GB of downloads).

I had contacted Airtel chennai through the necessary channels, viz, 1st the customer care, then the customer relationship centre, and then the Nodal officer.

No one has ever arrived at my home to check the line to see if there is a leakage of connection(as I was told, which might be the case, by the airtel officials in the relationship centre and the Nodal office in Chennai).

I had also provided my system's mac Id(Physical address) and asked for the usage details against my system's physical address, for which there was a request id raised, but no one showed up or called back.

Upon visiting the Nodal officer's office, the lady who spoke to me, said, the bill would be re-worked according to a higher end plan. Which was never done, and I had been pounded with telephone calls by airtel's billing department, asking me to pay the billed amount.

Right now I had to move out of Chennai, and not sure how to tackle the issue from outside Chennai.

Please assist.

Thats the speciality of airtel.Am also using airtel broadband and I got irritated several times with airtel bill.

The thing that you have to do now is make sure your usage is really within the 8gb limit. Now you call the customer care and ask them to remove the broadband connection. Tell them that you are now responsible for their modem (and other stuff) if they don't remove the connection within one week. Regarding your 28K bill, inform them that you'll not pay it because you have not used it. Inform the same when you receive call from them asking you to pay the bill.

Once your problem is solved change your plan to 799 unlimited. Airtel usually don't inform its customers about the 799 unlimited plan(256kbps).They will say that 799 plan is currently unavailable, but you insist them to change your plan orelse you'll remove the broadband connection.

Speak with them in a harsh tone.

YES THERE IS WORST SERVICE IN AIR TEL RELTIONSHIP CENTRE SITUATED AT ARCOT ROAD. yester month i heard about an internet (boradband) connection on airtel. i was stated to pay ~598 per month. they (not to mention the name - the employees) told me tat the installation free will be free of cost and i was asked ~1000 as an advance. they told me tat it was an deposit amount and they'll refund it when disconnecting the connection. for the first month i got the bill about Rs.~25, 255/- stated tat modem and other installation charges as 500 then tax for 1080 as in their mind. please take any step over airtel. It was the worst broadband (not a service).

well your resolution happened in this way.

1. I got a call at my number from Delhi Court asking me to report at Delhi Tis Hazaari court within 30 mins(mind you i was in Hyderabad, they strangely had my hyderabad number but not my hyderabad address). According to them they had send summons and notices in my Chennai address (I guess we are fools staying in Chennai and using a hyderabad number providing for high roaming charges).
2. I was asked to cough up INR 30000, else I would be dragged to court and would be charged INR 1, 53, 000 under section 420 !!
3. I was harrassed over the phone by the so called bloody lawyer (Mr. C.K. Oberoi) and his very badly behaved assistant. She had an amazing capability of being extremely rude with people and abusing them.
4. Airtel's legal department from bangalore called up, a Miss Meenaxi confirmed that there's a case on my name registered in Delhi Tis Hazaari court.
5. Airtel did not give me time to return from office and their people came to my home and started harassing my wife, by saying that they would drag me to police and court, and they had said im a cheat !
6. After a long fight they took a cheque from me, of INR 28, 800.
7. We called up Praveen Krishna from Airtel legal office (who was a supposed head of the legal department, and had no clue of a case on my name) for a NOC. When asked for all the notices and summons, he said Airtel never have registered a case.

I am sorry to say, Airtel has cheated me, and I was dealing with pure play cheats. This had made me disconnect whatever Airtel services I had. My family had followed suit.

I would strongly detest each and everyone for NOT taking a airtel connection henceforth.

@Airtel customer service, If you wish to contact me, you can do so on [protected]@yahoo.co.in, I would really like to hear from you what would have to say about this cheating game you guys played with me.

I went through the same problem as listed above today. Got a call from the Delhi Tis Hazari to report within 30 minutes(I am also from Hyderabad) and was asked to pay an exhorbitant amount of money by C.K. Oberoi and the Justice Rajbir Singh. I went and paid the amount to the nearest Airtel centre in Madhapur. Then I tried to find my case in Tis Hazari records, but could not find it. I tried calling C.K.Oberoi but his phone is switched off. I am going to sue Airtel for causing me this mental pain.
The airtel network is fine but the people working in airtel or sucking customers blood, time and many. People who uses airtel stuff s should be treated well or at least in decent way not like crooks.

This is with reference to the bill number[protected] bill date April 7, 2011 for my Airtel Mobile No: [protected] - Relationship Number[protected]

I have been holding this particular number since the year 2000. I have never faced any Billing issue for the last 11 years. This current month's billing has come as a shock to me. My amount has been arrived at 4793.31 as opposed to my average bill of around Rs. 1500. I had activated the 3G facility on my mobile phone a couple of months back. My first billing after the 3G PLAN of Rs 100 rental a month was activated was Rs. 2346. This amount was justified as I had used the services when I was on roaming usage in Kerala.

This amount of Rs. 4793 is totally not justifiable, as I am always 99% on WI-FI connection at my office as well as my residence. I had activated the 3G service only to use it as required whenever I do not have access to a internet connection. I was prior to this using a 2G service. I am at my office from 11:00 in the morning to 6:00 in the evening. The moment I reach office, my connection automatically changes to WI-FI and so I will not have to use the 3G service at all. Once I reach my residence, I again have my WI-FI activated as I have an Unlimited Broadband plan at home too. Infact my WI-FI at my residence is switched on almost the time round the clock. My residence number is 42642129. You can have this checked at your end.

I would like you to have my bill checked as there is a huge discrepancy in the billing. There have been amounts mounting to around 500 to 600 on certain days and that too around late evenings to midnight which is next to impossible. Whenever I browse the internet at home, I make it a point to check if the WI-FI is switched on before I even attempt to make a browsing. In such circumstances how can I be billed for the 3G usages of 344578 duration/volume costing 5277.90, and in fact I use my laptop with the WI-FI connection for any of my work. The phone is not used for any major browsing, except for checking my official mails, for which anyways, I always check if the WI-FI is activated always to avoid using the cost of the 3G service.

This is a very very big discrepancy in the billing, and is not justified by any cost. You have to check my residence number of 42642129 in which you can verify that the WI-FI is always on. It is very difficult for me to make such a huge payment. I request to you to investigate into this at the earliest and provide me a fair and justifiable answer to my problem. I had a very high regard for Airtel and wanted to always use the 3G services, but after such a unjustifiable billing, I was forced to cancel my 3G services yesterday afternoon with immediate effect.
