Airtel — Unwanted JOKES PACK 2419

Since past few days I have been getting an SMS "You have been renewed for JOKE PACK 2419 subscription service from Airtel. You have been charged Rs 1.0".
Initially I thought that there is a glitch in your system as there were no Jokes coming via SMS.
Later I realised that money was actually being deducted.

I have not subscribed to this service. I tried to unsubscribe by the following 2 SMS methods
UNSUB JOKES
UNSUB MJKE

However I get an SMS back "service not available"

On calling your customer support, they mentioned that this service has been activated since March 2010, and there is a daily deduction of Rs 1.0. But I only started getting this deduction since the past few days/weeks. Besides I am not getting any JOKES via SMS. Anyways the customer support guys could not provide any useful support and after holding the line for 5 mins also could not put me on to his superiors (Pawan Kumar) because he was busy. He said that is senior would call in 15 mins, but no call has come even after 30 mins.

I clearly remember deactivating the JOKES service few years back. After which the JOKES stopped coming.

I SIMPLY CANT IMAGINE YOU GUYS SUBSCRIBING FOR ME WITHOUT MY PERMISSION AND ALSO CHARGING FOR IT WITHOUT PROVIDING ANY SERVICE.

I want all my money that has been deducted these few years, back. This is so unfair for you guys to steal money like this.

There has been no swift resolution. Today again Rs 1 has been deducted. The first action you guys could have taken was to deactivate the service for this number.
Also note, your customer support guy did not call up at all.

From what your email states, you have refunded for the 5 months (Sep 2011 to Jan 2012). But what about the money that has been deducted since Mar 2010?
Form what your customer support person called and informed, you guys have records only for last 6 months for prepaid connections.

I asked about the money that has been deducted form Mar 2010 to date...including Feb 2012.

"As per your telephonic conversation with the undersigned, we would like to inform you that we have verified our records and found that there is a charge Rs.122/- (daily debit of Rs.1/-) for JOKE PACK_2419 service from 01 September 2011 to 31 December 2011.

Further, we would like to inform you that in order to resolve your current concern we have credited an amount of Rs.122/- as a one-time benefit in your account on 10 February 2012."

REALLY. You are offering me a ONE-TIME BENEFIT? And what about FEB 2012??????

You guys have been stealing money from my account without even rendering any service and without sending alerts of the money being deducted.
Don't fault me for you not having past records. If one can apply any common sense, one would easily decipher that the money has been cut since 2010 (as your customer support guy had informed me of the activation date).

I have to again repeat that you would need to refund the amount from Mar 2010. You guys are not offering me any favors by doing this. Actually you guys should be paying me back my money with INTEREST. That's what you charge ppl. who delay the payment on Postpaid ...right? Why not apply it here.

Again...in no un-clear terms...I would repeat...You would need to refund me my money since the date this service was activated by your company, irrespective of you having records or not.

There has been no response after a confirmation mail that you guys would look into it.
Airtel guys have reverted saying that they have addressed the issue. Where as they are simply saying that they cant do anything further.

Is there anyone out here who has faced this from airtel?

For Airtel: The concern has not been addressed. You guys have taken a stand that its been addressed as it suits you guys. This is disgusting. Very disgusting. You got to pay the money which you guys have wrongfully taken. Just saying that you dont have the earlier records is not my problem.
This is a natural tendency of Airtel. They are the worst money suckers in the telecom networks. Port to Vodafone. Vodafone is costly but service is excellent.
