[Resolved]  Airtel Prepaid — unwanted subscription from 290603

I have not subscribed for the "Thoughts for the day" fro 290603. Still I have started getting daily messages with the topic from the number. No response so far from Airtel. Please get the number 290603 blocked. I do not want to see any messages from the number. Besides this a refund of all the charges which have been debited by Airtel.

I'm also getting "Thought for the day" and "Love tip" for the last 4 days. Like many people, who are victims of this robbery, I also haven't subscribed from 290603. Rs.27 have been deducted from account. Please, consider this matter seriously.

Airtel — stop messages from 290603

I am also being cheated by airtel in the form of sms service as "thought of the day" from 290603 without my intimation and consent. i have been duped of around Rs 100 in last few days. In spite of request made to air tel on 121 on 16 Aug 2009, i am getiing the sms and deductions are being made of Rs 6 a day for two sms from 290603. I must get my money back and the serives must be stopped.

Lots of Airtel prepaid customers are facing the problem of getting “Value Added Service from 290603” subscribed without their consent. Once a user receives a message “thought of the day” from 290603 there is deduction of Rs.3/- per SMS. Every day each user gets 4 SMS. Worst part is such SMS are delivered during mid night 2:00AM, 4:00AM (proof can be provided on request).
It is a real hard work to get rid of this problem by contacting Airtel customer care. Apart from this it is harder to get refund back.
Many called this as SCAM. This started in June 09 and again in Aug 09.
It appears to be joint scam between Airtel and the service provider of VAS 290603 to boost their revenues. Most people would not be even aware of this deduction, so they are basically robbing ignorant customers. It appears a lot of other customers are also facing this problem but not many are raising this issue as this time consuming. Airtel customer service is poor and they seem intent on cheating the customers. As of today there is no way to contact customer person using 121. So one has no choice but live with deduction.
Airtel has about 100 million GSM subscribers today, 4-SMS per dayRs.3/- for a single subscriber may not be much, but for 100 million subscribers a day it is 4xRs.300 million a day – one of the biggest scams going on today, but no one writes about it.

Yes, I have been facing the same problem with Airtel for the last 3 months. Hundreds of calls to Airtel have got me nowhere. It's obvious this is a SCAM.

I suggest someone write to the Economic Times and all the newspapers that cater to share market information, letting share market investors and traders know that this is a shady company (like ENRON) trying to inflate revenues by fraudulent means. I suspect that crores of subscribers are being charged this way by Airtel, and this is downright FRAUD.

The SEBI also needs to know about this. Airtel company officials should be made to answer to TRAI and the SEBI and government regulators about this.

Imagine if they are doing this to 1 crore subscribers, 4 times a day. That is Rs. 12 crores revenue per day by SCAMMING the innocent users like us who are getting nowhere with this. Airtel refuses to even admit this is a problem. Each person is being told that he/she MUST have subscribed to this service!

I am having AIRTEL prepaid lifetime connection. I am getting unwanted service messages from 290603 from one month. Daily 2-3 messages are received of “Thought for the day” and “Movie”. 3 Rs. are debited from my account for each message. I have not subscribed for this service. Around 200 Rs. have been debited from my account till.
I don’t want this subscription.
I kindly request you to stop sending these messages and refund me my money.

I too have the 290603 problem, this is nothing more than a scam by Airtel to get your hard earned cash. The simple solution is to let your sim card run out and change phone companies I am sure another company will welcome you as a customer. We do not have to suck up to SCUM BAG companies like Airtel. Tell them to stick their serviice into a place that the sun never shines.

Airtel Prepaid — unwanted subscription of 290603 service

I am having a base model of Nokia bearing no.[protected] but I have been automatically subscribed to Thought for the day service from 290603 Airtel Prepaid service. I am being debited by Rs.3/- every 30 minutes and thus I have lost Rs.333/- of my balance.

I don't want any more messages from the above service and I need it to be blocked so that I do not loose any more money.

If you are facing the problem of getting unwanted VAS from 2906030 please dial at the Airtel customer care number 121 then for information in english press 3 then press 29 there will be technical support you have to give them the details of your mobile number and your name thereafter they deactivate the services for you. Please help others who face similar problem.

I have not subscribed for the "JOKES" from my phone.

May be my small neice have accidentely subscribed for that service through Airtel Live.Well that is just a posssibility but I am not sure of this.

Since I never wanted that service I unscribed it by sending the neccessary SMS to 55382.

After some time I recieved SMS back which said "Invalid Request .You are not Subscribed for jokes".

Now since I already had doubt that may be it was due to some error with airtel system, to ensure the same I called your customer care service.

Two things disoppointed me a lot.

1.I was not at all happy be the executive which I spoke and felt very insulted by the way he spoke to me.His behavior was very rude and he had some kind of 'don't care' attitude.Even after 24 hours I feel upset when I remember the convesation.

2.With such a IT infra structure the executive had no way to trace that how /why my request for subscribing 'Jokes ' got processed(like how and when did the system recieve instructions of any form from me).When I requested this information there was a blunt reply that he did not have faciltity to trace that information.When I said I doubted it was due to Airtel system error he said that can never happen.I don't know how an executive claim that airtel IT infrastucture has zero errors and never does it behave abruptly.When I scanned internet, internet is full of complains agaist the system.

Lastly as airtel claims of "world-class services built on leading edge technologies" I would kindly request you to inform me that how the subscription for jokes got processed.

I have been recieving cricket alerts from the 7th of Oct. '09 (time: 2:30 pm) for which I never opted n they seem to charge Rs.5/- per match per day.I dialled *646*606# for its deactivation as per instructed but I find the reply as "we r not able to process ur request".Adding to my frustration, the Customer Care Service doesnt have ny option to b able to speak to the Executive. I m sorry to say that I m terribly disappointed by ur service n request u to deactivaste it immediately so that I m not charged for it.Hope that u would understand n help me out.
