[Resolved]  Barclay Bank Credit Card — Extremely Pathetic Customer Service

This complaint is for very poor service of barclay bank. I applied for barclay bank credit card last year in 2007 however I have not received the card till now. and I complaint for the same many times on their customer service number and also I wrote many mails to them however I got only electronic reply in which written "Thanku for writing to barclay we take this request seriously" however nothing has been done so far. I also received call from their mumbai head office and they knew about that issue however they said it's not there job whether u receive the card or not they have forward the complaint to Backend department. Same reply I got when I call on customer service number. These guys are sucks can not provide good customer service. receive so many messages from barclay bank and get so many pamphlets at my residence address. This is completely . Barclay customer service is really poor.

Barclay Bank Credit Card — Non receipt of credit card

Barclay bank had offered me their Platium Credit card on the basis of other credit cards held by me. It is more than two months back that all the documents were submitted, Verification done for the same & i m yet to receive the card
i m intrested to aplly barclay credit card so pls contect me

Apropos to the mail dated 11th April 2008, wherein it has been specified that in spite of my unwillingness to subscribe for Mediclaim Insurance Policy to Barclays Credit Card, it was trustfully subscribed in my name by Barclays Credit Card. Nonetheless, when the same was complained to Barclays Credit Card, they shrugged off their shoulders by directing fingers towards ICICI Lombard. When contacted to ICICI Lombard (for fault of Barclays Credit Card), it was intimated that the policy would be cancelled and amount be refunded to the Card Account and no need to pay any amount.

To add to this, and to my utter surprise, when the statement for the month of Feb 02 to Mar 01 2008 was received, the amount of Rs. 942/- was reflected as being payable by me. This clearly reflects the customer services resorted by Barclays Credit Card, firstly, without any consent the insurance was subscribed, to add to the woe, Barclays did not meddle nor co-operated in canceling the policy under the garb of directing the fingers towards the insurance company. Now when the insurance company informed that no amount to be paid, Barclays Credit Cars is asking for payment of Rs. 942/-.

In the entire episode I conclude that my only fault is that I have subscribed to Barclays Credit Card, which was informed to me to be free of charge, but now it appears that the free charge is only for the namesake and charge under the garb of various head is being recovered as has been happening with me.

Further to this, even after writing mails and making complaints, time and again I keep on receiving SMSs on my mobile phone (on an average 7-8 SMSs daily), specifying the customer care number (which never works) and demanding for the payment of Rs.942/-.

Apart from the SMSs I also received calls from Barclays customer care asking for dues in every 2-3 days (tel no.:[protected], [protected] and[protected]. Hence I am being harassed persistently even after making aware the facts and requesting to Barclays.

In view of the above, I once again request you to kindly reverse the undue and unjustifiable amount being charged on my credit card immediately and cancel my credit card, and desist from making any unwarranted SMSs failing which, I shall be constrained to proceed legally against you at appropriate forum, entirely as to cost and consequences upon you, which may please be noted.

Hope that the matter may be resolved at your end and unwarranted situation is averted.

I am also facing a problem from barclay bank credit card . Even after closure of the account and payment of all dues, they are sending me statment with some amount, with interest and asking me to clear the due.

I have sent letters, called executives and sent mails, but nothing has happend .

Daily i am getting 6-7 electronic call and 6-7 SMS asking me to clear the dues .This is realy disturbing .

Their customer service executives are only interested in getting the due clear, but not ready to understand the problem . I have sent letters and mails to their head service, but no action ahs been taken so far.

Realy third class practices and processes of this organisation.

I would advice other members to keep yourself out of this Barclay Brand.

I also agree with this fact that when i apply for barclays credit card, thier executives informed me that minimum limit u gonna get on gold card that is 50K.I got my gold credit card with the limit of 22K, I called at customer care i raised the credit limit issue but your representative said that i would not able to help you than i asked him to cancel the card and he did the same in go.He din't even try to retian me more over he dint try to help me.and he hang the phone.This kind of [censored]ing customer services Barclay is provind to me.Pls reply if anyone has any issue
Never ever dare to use the Barklay card... All you would get is troubles...I am a manager with American Express Credit card division. I can very well judge the level of service of any credit card company. I own all the major credit cards in India. I must say never use Barklays card that is the most pathetic service you will ever receive.

I have used the Barklays card for the first time and promise never to use again. I recommend you can use any credit cards available in India but never use barklays card...
i agree 1000% to above, i made a shopping of just Rs.800/- & i was waitng for statement to clear my dues. but when i did not receive within one month, i called the customer service & i was told that my due date is over & i need to pay Rs.1600/-now & i was also told that the statement was dropped outside my residence. when i told them that i had never opted for hard copy statement & i had opted for statement through email, i was told that my email address entered by them was not correct,
I tried to explain the entire scenario to their customer relations manager, that 1st of all the statement shoild have been delievered to mail address & not to house, but even if sent courier, my family is available 24x7 at home & u r saying that house is locked, but even house is locked the courier should have returned back to bank instead of dropping outside.
secondly i asked them how can they charge 1600 whereas i have purchased of 800 ? and that too i m just 4 days behind your last due date. i was given answer that there is no answer for that but i have to pay double amount.
3rdly i asked why i was not informed about my billing date, i was told that they had sent sms on mobile & when asked them whether they can show any proof of that in bills, i was told that there is no proof.
finally i requested them that instead of 100% intrest can they reduce it? i was denied for that.
Friends i m very simple guy & i dont know what to do? hence i would request all o[censored] not to go this bank, today i m helpless...
I have paid all the dues in the month of APril. There is no outstanding till date. But Barclay bank sending me bill in the month of June outstanding of Rs.113.00 (Charges of CHEQUE PICK UP FEE).

First of all no bank charging for Cheque Pick Up Fee. IF there is not outstanding amount why should i call the person for Cheque Pick up. That means Barclay Bank giving lots of trouble to people. The bank is very bad. I will file case against the bank if neccesary if they didnot deduct my amount.

I havenot received bills properly and they are asking me to pay the bills.

Barclay Credit Card — no customer care telephone line and e mail

My card no 4339 [protected]

I am trying customer care telephone nos. since yesterday and none of telephones are working.

toll free no[protected], [protected] etc...

subsequently i have wrote mail to customer care, no response.

I do not understand, how they will be helping during emergency like loss of card etc..

i will be receiving 100 of calls for new card.

1st maintain existing card holders .
I hold all major credit cards where they give excellent service.
But I find Barclays Card Very very very very pathetic in its service and controls !!!.
Lot of goo[censored]ps at various levels ...Their call centre numbers are always engaged !!!
I feel like writing to Banking Ombudsman many times... I only hope they turn around and give better service in the days to come, else they will not only get new customers but also loose their existing customers...

I surely have had millions of problems with one bank who deals with Cerdit cards. I am not revealing their name, however it is not Barclay and i dont have a Barclays card anyways. I do get a lot of calls from Barclay (I am impressed through by Barclay's premier League) but not their credit card after reading all of these comments. Welcome to India - the land of problems, Thank fully it is not government you are dealing with, but a prestigious international corporation. I know many of these prestigious corporations suck great (Better than a Vaccum cleaner) in India as they have stepped in to land to create more problems.

I want to tell you all a story. It may be helpful, i am not sure, but this is what i did for the utterly worst service i was getting from a credit card bank. I have contacted this bank on phone millions of times for various problems, always they are interested in getting their point proved and would not bother about the customer. One day i even wrote an e-mail to Level 2 and damn there was a notification delay sent about retrieval of email from their side. ( I dont know if the email address works no more or they are clogged with emails - which is unlikely)

Crap!!! I thought, i should write to higher authority (Consumer complaints may be, yeah or SOMEBODY BETTER). So i managed to write an Electronic FEEDBACK ( I think i wrote to Investors relations - saying who are the people who are really interested in getting into relationship with your bank, when you dont take care of your customer...) (I really meant it) to the banks HEADQUARTERS location. Thats it next day, lots of work was done as seen through the correspondence mail. Hope you all do the same and make this Land of problems (India) a better place to live. I really do love my country, but it hurts to see people getting cheated in various ways and there is no proper authority to step in to rectify and take care of any of these situations.


So try writing to if you have had problems. Be clear, specific, intense and no vulgarity to have the greater effect from headquarters looking over their branches. If this also does not help (Worst case) copy whatever you have written before submitting in the above link (Dont include secure information in email as it can get dangerous) and send an email to the email address contacts listed 1 by 1 in link to contact us page. I am sure somebody will read - as it will be just addressed to them and forward the greviance to correct department to take care of the banks problem in this land filled with problems and corruption.
