[Resolved]  Dell — Unable to get Service

I purchased a DELL Inspiron 6000 as per following details:

Service Tag : FQGFL71
Express Service Code: [protected]
Date of Purchase : 17/09/2005
Merchant Name : AL-MAA COMPUTERS
Place of Purchase : Dubai, UAE
Amount paid : AED 5, 560.00

I do not have the original Invoice/ Receipt. However, I purchased the
Laptop using my Credit Card as per following details.

Card Type :VISA
Issuing Bank :HDFC Bank, India
Amount Charged:INR 69, 457.74
Transaction Reference:VT[protected]
Less than a year after I purchased the above Laptop, the LCD display
became defective. It displayed vertical lines of varying thicknesses and colours. At the beginning they were not causing much problem but soon
they occupied more than 70% of the screen and it was impossible to use
the display. While this defect was developing, I was on a long
international tour and could not contact any DELL Service Center.

Eventually when I returned to Bahrain where I was stationed for a
reasonably long period, I was told by the local DELL dealer that the
Warranty had expired and that I had to pay for replacement of the LCD.
At that time I managed using an external monitor and did not pursue the matter further to have the LCD replaced.

I have been in Bangalore, India for the past few months when the Laptop's Hard drive crashed. I tried to contact the DELL Service Center for necessary
repair aganst payment. After advising them my Service Tag and my name, I was surprised to be told that the Laptop was not appearing in my name as per DELL Records. I was also told that unless I "established ownership" of the
Laptop, DELL could not give me any information or provide any assistance
in having the Laptop repaired (against regular payment!). I do not plan to visit UAE soon and do not have a visiting Card of the Salespersons so that I could contact them. All I can recollect is that I purchased the Laptop from a large showroom in a prestigious Mall at Dubai. I can not he held responsible for some error that the salesperson might have made in registering ownership details with your Systems.

One of your support persons said that DELL did not have any sales outlets in UAE. I am quite scandalized by these statements.
If DELL has such stringent processes in place which incidentally I am
not aware if any other company in Electronic Consumer durable Industry
follows, it should make them known to unsuspecting customers like me who
could be trapped into this kind of situations and who might have to
suffer protracted ordeals besides losses due to business discontinuity.

I requested DELL via e-mail, to please investigate this matter and advise me the next steps. Obviously all this has happened due to some errors/ lapses. I
would like to know who are esponsible for these, what action DELL is
proposing to take and what action/ legal recourse is available to me.

To this I received a reply saying
"This request is being closed.

There is an issue with the Tags or the Account below, that prevents
ownership transfer or country to country transfer.

You will need to contact the original purchase country's, which is the
United States, customer service or financial department to discuss
resolving the issue.

Once resolved you can resubmit the transfer request, use the following
link to do so."
On explaining the position again and requesting thier action, DELL replied as follows:
Hello,

Thank you for your reply. However, there is nothing we can do for you.
You did not purchase the computer from Dell and our records show that this service tag is from the US and is on hold and cannot be transferred, there is no manufacturer warranty on this item.

You will need to work with the company that you purchased this from to see if there is any warranty from them that they will honor.

This is being closed as transfer is not possible.

Dell — dvd drive problem

hello sir,
i had purchased a dell laptop on 20-11-09.from the date of my purchase i was having my DVD drive problem.which i had recognised few months after because i dnt have much work with DVDs.then i complained that to the dell technician and was solved by replacing the drive.then i enjoyed the normal performance with that new drive just for a few months.and again i started to face the problem that even though i place a disc it will not recognize it and some times i face problem with the hard ware in ejecting the drive.today[protected] im facing a problem that the placed in DVD was not ejected and not detected.when i called to dell they are saying that i am out of warranty and i should purchase the drive.

sir i am facing the problem since the beginning onwards,so how rational to it saying that im out of warranty because i had asked them to replace again the new drive because of its perfomance was not normal.but every time they assist some way through phone and solve my problem some how for that instant.

so i feel that i am eligible to have a new drive replacement since i am facing the problem from beginning.
please help me.it costed me 50,000 rs to buy it.now they are asking me to purchase the drive with 5000 rs. its not the problem with the money here how rational it is for such a big companny to deliver a problamatic laptop and asking about warranty when questioned for the problem which was found after warranty....................please help me.

Dell — Faulty Netbook

Inspiron 1210 Model (Serial no. 9GJP2L1) purchased on 27th April 2010 has been attempted to be repaired by Dell's Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi service centre (4 times) within warranty period , and at our residence directly by Dell's engineers ( 2 times). The case no. given by Dell is 6988659. Immediately after being repaired, within a few hours ( not days) the same problem of the screen going blank while working comes up .

It is most shameful that even after 6 attempts the company is not able to repair the Netbook. Now I don't want to ever purchase a Dell product again and want a complete refund from the company.

Dell — complaint related to laptop

I have laptop of dell 1564,n- series..which contain problem of heating..when u play game or open somewhat high application..It cause an interrupt in our work..It shows blue screen and generate burst of sound ..you have to forcely shut down laptop..I have bought this laptop from dell care solution, ahmedabad..when i knew about this fault ihad issued my laptop to dell care center,ahmedabad..they told me to format whole laptop..I have done format but still it contains same problem...

Dell — poor after sales service

I have a comprehensive onsite warranty for my dell laptop.
The screen of my laptop seems to be damaged and there is a red line running down the screen.
When i called the customer support number listed on the website, i was told i need to be infront of the system and run some diagnostics otherwise they will not send a technician to my residence.

The problem is that they only work between Monday - Friday 9 am to 6 pm.

How is a working person expected to be able to be infront of their system during working hours unless i am expected to take leave so that Dell can fix my machine.

WHAT IS THE USE OF A COMPREHENSIVE ONSITE CONTRACT>???

Dell — laptop creating problems after being out of warranty

I PURCHASED A DELL VOSTRO A840N service tag no. 91gcmh1 LAPTOP FOR RS. 28500. DURING THE FIRST YEAR IT WORKED WELL. JUST AFTER ITS WARRANTY GOT EXPIRED IT STARTED CREATING PROBLEMS.

1. ITS HARD DISK GOT DAMAGED (JUST AFTER 14 MONTS OF PURCHASE, HOWEVER HARD DISKS DO NOT NORMALLY GET CRASHED SO EARLY)
2. ITS MEMORY CARD READER STOPPED WORKING
3. ITS OPTICAL DRIVE STOPPED RESPONDING PROPERLY
4. ITS SOUND PORT STOPPED FUNCTIONING
5. USB PORTS STOPPED FUNCTIONING PROPERLY
6. IT STARTED GETTING OVERHEATED AND THEN TEN IT FREEZES AFTER 50 MINUTES OF WORKING AND UPON RESTARTING ASKS FOR SYSTEM RECOVERY
7. ITS FAN IS NOT WORKING
8. ITS HEAT SINK IS NOT WORKING

NOW WHEN I CALLED THE CUSTOMER CARE THEY TOLD ME TO REPLACE THE HARD DISK AGAIN(2ND TIME), MOTHER BOARD, HEAT FAN, HEAT SINK

THEY ASKED ME TO GET A WARRANTY SUBSCRIPTION OF RS. 14500 (COST OF THE LAPTOP RS. 28500)

JUST AFTER 1.5 YEARS( APPROX.) MOST OF THE COMPONENTS OF THE LAPTOP STOPPED WORKING PROPERLY. IT MEANS THEY HAVE USED VERY LOW GRADE COMPONENTS INSIDE THE LAPTOP.
I WANT PROPER JUSTICE AND COMPENSATION FOR SUCH THINGS. KINDLY HELP

i bought dell inspiron core i5 in March ...adaptor is not working and one key of the laptop is loose

Dell — Slot Load drive in Studio Laptops

I bought Dell Studio Laptop 2-3 years back along with my 10-12 friends. My Slot load drive stopped functioning within 3 months of the received date. Initially I thought only I might be unlucky but last week I came to know that that all of my friend who bought Dell Studio laptops got heir drives non-functional.

Moreover the media buttons on studio 1537 laptops misfire and keep on triggering which is very annoying.

Suggestions to prospective customers- please don't buy any newly released product from DELL. Wait for the reviews. Trusted and old Dell products are AWESOME like Dell XPS and inspiron.

I bought a Dell cell during the month of March and within 2 months it was not working properly. So I went to Dell services where they took my cell and promised to replace me with another new one within 15 days. But for the last 2 months I have been calling them regularly to know about the status and also gone directly but their reply was a constant one saying that i will receive it 2 or 3 days. This is the constant answer they are giving. Even I was ready to get another model at extra cost but still no response from the dell people. Now I am not able to purchase a new cell also. This was not the service expected from you people.
