[Resolved]  Honda - Unicorn — low quality material and rusting problem

I am mechanical engineer, i bought unicorn from j.s.p honda on august 27 2007 just done 9000km.

i have the following problems, photos have been attached.

Most of the parts are getting rusted very easily. No steps for replacing it during service.
Spares available are not up to the standards (genuine Honda spare)
Spares are getting rusted inside the packing itself.
Chain guard is getting rusted
Rear stay (swing arm) is rusting
Chain has no proper tension evenly, lose at some point and tight at other points, sprockets are getting rusted. Don’t even live near coastal area.
Bike that I am using has done just 9000km and I am facing such terrible problems. Except the engine everything is dam waste, even the coating on the engine bore is pealing off. God dam bike.

Pivot sleeve and bearing
Design Fault

The metal used is worst quality, the metal sleeve should have higher hardness value than the present value Honda engineers have designed but its not so, the pin bearing 20*26*20 is easily producing impressions on the sleeve totally damaging the outer surface and restricting the rotary movement. and this happens as the pivot sleeve starts oxidizing.

The bearing that is on the chain side is exposed to loads from all the axis when compared with the other pin bearing on the other parallel side. Thus two bearings on each side swing arm has to be installed with a properly hardened pivot sleeve bush, or else instead of bearing its better to install hollow bush with vulcanized rubber coating.

Even the axle shafts are getting rusted. Wheel bearings are getting rusted, the plating over the bearing is pealing off, thus rotary movement is restricted, no free sliding motion. Honda doesn’t even know the flaw in the design. don’t know what kind of quality management Honda has.

I am not at all satisfied with honda's service, I don’t know why i purchased this vehicle, had a great respect over Japanese technology and was found of Honda, every thing is ruined, will never ever recommend any one to go for any kind of Honda products.

as Honda is in collaboration with hero motors, Honda opts the same design with them too causing the same problem. But hero Honda has slight modification to there pivot bushes.as well as price of spares parts is low when compared to honda spares for the same item.

please do not think that I am the only customer not satisfied, there are many but they don’t approach as they are frustrated, they just feel for it. There is no value for money when it comes to honda, honda is cheating us.

Honda - Unicorn — Very Very poor service

Hi,
I gave my Honda Unicorn for 4th free service on 5th of december. My bike number TN07 AQ 9840. I mentioned few complaints while giving the bike for service like noise on the disc brake, handle bar wobbling etc. I got the bike the next day itself. But within one week of service, the connection from the battery was entirely cut-off. When I checked in the nearest work shop, I noticed that the screws and nuts are not tightened properly. Also in the battery side of the bike, the hole joining the cover of the battery was broken. The sound in the disc brake was also not taken care properly and the disc pad was entirely worn out(Could have prevented if it was taken care during service). So no other go other than changing the disc pad. Also the habdle bar wobbling is also still persists. Really fed up with the kind of service which Kun Honda is providing. Please think of your customer's Time, Money and Safety.

Honda Unicorn — Very Very Poor Service

This is kaja Mohideen from chennai. This month[protected] i bought new HONDA UNICORN motorcycle in KUN Honda, Adayar Chennai. Yesterday i reached my first servivce kilometer point. So that today morning i leave my vehicle for Ist service in KUN Honda at adayar. Today evening while am taking back the motor cycle from service center i was shocked and not satisfied with service rendered by the service centre. Also I have noticed lot of scratches in the byke. (For your ready reference, I am attaching the photograph of the byke with the scratches made by the service centre) Not at all they have done water wash also. I found from the byke the service center have not carried out any services which I have pointed out to them while giving the byke for service today morning. In this conection first I have contacted the service engineer who told me that this much of service only render by us. Since the way of talk of service Engineer is not satisfied to me, I have contacted the Service Manager Mr Vaidyanathan who is also not cared to give proper reply to me also he told that this much of service only render by us in this centre and if you want you can contact my Managing Director. The way of talking of this service Manager Mr Vaidyanathan is not good and I think he is not having the knowledge how to satisfy the customers. I am not at all expecting this type of servivce from your authorised service centre. If you have not taken any immediate action in this matter, I will take further step in this matter, as I have invested huge amount in this vehicle.

Hi Honda Team,

After several reminder to your dealers at M/s. JSP honda, kukatpally, hyd my bike got serviced more than thrice still sounds in chain box is not sorted out.These sounds are irritating and killing the joy of ride.They said that this problem is common in these (Unicorn & Shine) bikes and they adjusted chain which did not worked out.Even after trying four to five times in two months problem it is still there, I have even serviced bike thinking that it will rectify the problem.

I want to know whether the problem is really there in all Unicorn bikes or only in my bike. Can it be will sort out or we need to thing alternative which will affect the Honda vehicle in the market.Except these sounds this bike is superb in every aspect. Even I am getting decent millage i.e around 55 in city drive.

same here the exhaust has got rusted in less than 6 months since I got the bike! I live in a coastal city though! I thought this was rusting issue was resolved!:@

Honda - Unicorn — POOR SERVICE OF DEALER, DELAY OF DELIVERY

Hello,

I am R.K.MOORTHY, On[protected] I booked Honda - UNICORN, Account no: MBU - 257, the dealer assured me that the delivery of bike is after 30 days, but in their record it's noted as 45 days & till date[protected] it's 59 days that's nearly 2 Months.
As a customer, several times I phoned to their showroom about the delivery of my booked bike, but as a proprietor of the showroom there is no responsible answer from their side, I also gave my new contact number [protected]. & if I contacted, each one is answering & giving differential answer, but the person (Mr.PRAMOTH) who took my order has not even made a phone to me to give a valid reason about the delay.
I phoned to the Owner of the showroom 10 days back but he said "that particular staff is on leave, I don’t know anything, I will ask him to contact you", till now no answer.
To collect the customers they are giving very trusty words with full confidence to us, but if a customer booked a bike, they are not caring for them & to lock the customer they are allotting periods as 30 days, 45 days like going on..... I am a very good example, also they don’t have hint of when to deliver bike.
Perhaps I booked this bike with other dealer, by the time I would definitely get it. So, Regarding their delay delivery of the bike I already send a complaint to Head Office.
I booked this bike because of my urgent but Due to the above mentioned circumstances & their negligence I am facing Physical & Mental worries & unnecessary money loss, energy loss, time loss.
