[Resolved]  HP India — No receipt of gift!

I hadpurchased one Compaq Presario Desk Top SG 3053IL from M/s. GURU Infosys,6/268,tradecentre building,YMCA Cross road,Calicut,Kerala vide Invoice no.15106 dt. 23/8/2007asper the scheme for Onam Festival offer.According to them, some of the free gift items ie. Web Camera and Head set were to be sent to us directly b y the HP India directly by post within a few days. Though more than 83 days have passed, we have not received the said items nolr any intimation(.) On enquiry M/s. Guru informed us that the same would be received within one month(.) The same is yet to be received(.) Pl. arrange to send the same immediately

Here is what my initial problem was:

My name is Janice D'souza. I am an entrepreneur and own a Pavilion dv2601tx notebook. My HDD crashed and I gave it to the HP authorized service center at Dadar (SIMTECH) for replacement on 29th October. It is under warranty. I backed up the content myself, since HP does not offer support in that area anyway. This is the second time the HDD has crashed in one year. The last time this happened just a month after purchase and was under case no. [protected]. Along with this complain there was another problem that has started occuring just a few days prior to the HDD crash, i.e. the display screen would not come ON many times when starting or restarting the computer after windows came on. The computer could work and the screen would even show the DOS screen but once windows came on it would be just blank and sometimes would start working after sometime and at other times need to be restarted after emergency shut down. The engineer checked the laptop and called me confirming delivery of the laptop on 3rd November however since the recovery DVD that came with my purchase was a Hindi one, he said I would have to order the DVD from the HP helpline and once couriered to me only then would he be able to install the original drivers, OS, etc.; until then I could take back my laptop and work on temporary software. Since my business requires my to be able to work on my laptop and since there was no other choice I had to agree. I ordered the DVD and it was registered under the same case no. [protected]. I also asked that the order be sent to my office address so that it is ensured to be collected. After collecting the laptop, I realised that the screen problem had not been fixed. I called the engineer who then said he will take care of it when i resubmit once the recovery DVD is received. Again, I was furious since it meant that I would now have to leave my laptop again for a couple of days. How can HP be so inefficient? But that's not it.. While I place the order for the recovery DVD on the 1st of November, it has still not been shipped to me and when i called the helpline to inquire they gave me the consignment no.[protected]overnight couriers). On calling overnight I learned that that consignment number does not contain any order sent to me. It was for a lady in Delhi, while I am based in Mumbai! So, now I am 15 days away from my warranty expiring and HP has not only ruined my peace but not even solved my problem!! This is the worst service and attention such a big brand can give its customers. I will take this up in consumer court if I have to, but this time I am not going to be quiet about how irresponsible and uncustomer friendly HP is as a company.

Following this, HP support contacted me. However, they are so bad with service that my problem is still unresolved and their promises are all fake. Kindly read the email thread below to understand details of the case (Post the below email exchange, I had a telephonic conversation with the HP support personnel, Shweta, who was most unreasonable in either helping or emphathizing with the situation. After having goofed up with the courier AGAIN, when i requested that a service engineer be sent to collect my notebook and fix all the issues and drop it back since I did not have the time to waste any more business days on solving this issue than I already had, I was flatly refused and the reason sited was that no service is available out of warranty. But my warranty period has not even expired yet and besides, I logged my complaint over a month ago and the issue are still not resolved. How can you throw the warranty time stamp at me??):

I followed your instruction and although it did work, here is the error I get:

'This PC is not supported by the System Recovery Discs. You will not be able to continue to recover this system with these discs.'

Please see the screen shots attached. This is absolutely ridiculous!! Can't your company get anything right?? I have just 7 days left for my warranty to expire and this is a problem I submitted a month ago! It's just a money making racket to ensure customers purchase extended warranty.

Also, please note that my notebook came with 'Windows Vista Home Premium' and NOT Home basis. It was a licenced version and I expect to get the same back. Also note that I have only received the OS recovery DVD and NOT the drivers DVD.

Thank you for following up and for the update. The following is the issue I am facing and was facing since at least a week prior to the HDD crash and before submitting my notebook to SIMTECH with the complaint (I would like to repeat that this problem does not happen all the time. It is only seen sometimes and hence a little difficult to diagnose. I had explained it exactly as below to the engineer who prepared my job sheet at SIMTECH on Oct. 29 however, inspite of explaining this and his confirming that he understood this matter was overlooked.):

1. When the laptop is put into hibernate or sleep while it is ON, on wake up or power ON the laptop comes ON but the screen stays off. Most often I need to perform an emergency shutdown and restart and keep my fingers crossed that it comes on this time; at other times the screen automatically comes to life after a while of constantly pressing keys on the keypad.
2. At times (this is less frequent), the same problem occurs at Startup. What is funny is that during Startup, before Windows loads, the screen works, since I can see the DOS screen, but once Windows starts loading the screen goes dead (but you can HEAR windows come on)


Do let me know if you need any more information or details on the issue.

HP India — Non receipt of gifts even after eight weeks

I purchased a compaq presario laptop on 20th sep 2008 and sent the necessary documents alongwith a demand draft of Rs.999 to HP redemption cell, First Floor, A-2, Okhla Industrial Area, Phase 1, New Delhi to avail free gifts under HP/Compaq presario notebook student offer. Redemption code no. JGE2SJEEPO was alloted to me and confirmed by E mail . It was assured that after receiving the required documents gifts will be sent within six weeks.
I regret to inform you that till now I have not received my gifts-option (a) Back pack and Creative MP3 player. It is informed by my bank that Rs 999 has been paid on 31 oct 2008.
In my opinion this kind of delay and that without informing any reason cause a big question on the reputation of a company like HP. Moreover no reply is given about the redemption status of my query to [protected]@solutions-intg.com
I hereby request you to put the matter before the company to fulfil the commitments made at the time of selling the product.

I ve bought a notebook PC from HP a month before and it was installed with windows vista homepremium 32 - bit by default. It is ok. . . .and good. . . .but eventhough I have the basic requirements I am not able to install CATIA V5R18 in this OS. . . . .Then I ve planned to install the same CATIA using XP pro as platform which is recommended to do so. . . . .Here I have the problem that
1) No other OS set up CD was provided by HP
2) No driver back up CD was provided

Hewlett Packard — Non-Receipt of redemtion goods

HP had announced that on purchase of HP Pavillion Notebooks, customers can get a Philips 5.1 Home Theatre System by paying 1499/- extra.

We have done this and despite lapse of 3 months, we have not received our gift and now the said Telephone No[protected] is not responding since 10 days.

It seems to be a fraud promotion by HP and the culprits should be brought to book and penalised and punished, as also we should be compensated for the excessive harassment, wastage of time and inconvenience plus the unnumerable STD calls made from Pune for follow up in 3 months.

i have just received a printer, copier cum scanner but have not received ups offered by them,

I bought an Hp laptop CND94842T8 in Srinagar on[protected] and was told by the seller that there is an offer of a Videocon LCD TV .After buying the laptop I wrote to HP about it and was told to send the documents along with the Draft for Rs 9000.i registered on HP site and got the redemption code S9S22NEKGG and after that I sent all the documents like invoice, bar coded serial along with the Draft on 6-1-2010 which was received on 8-1-2010 by HP.After that when I wrote to Hp about it I was told that they have received the documents and payment has been realised and the LCD TV is approved and same will be sent in 8 weeks time.some time back I also got an sms that delivery of TVs has started and I will soon receive it but despite a lapse of almost 3 months it has not been sent. Now the latest I have received is a shocking email from HP that the LCD TV cannot be sent to Srinagar and I should provide a Jammu address. Since Jammu is 300 kms from here and I have no address there I requested them to either send me my Rs 9000 back or if the problem is with my address in Srinagar (since not all couriers are willing to come to our area as it is 12 kms away from centre of Srinagar city) I provided them an alternate address which is in the heart of Srinagar and where every courier service is available.Now neither are they sending me the TV nor is my payment being refunded.kindly help.
