HSBC Bank — Credit Card Charges

Address:Bangalore, Karnataka

Hi,

I had subscribed to HSBC Credit card around 1.5 years back and was availing various paid or unpaid facilities provided by them. I never used to get paper bills to my address and many of the times I did not get mails of the Bill as well. Till the time i was in India I used to call them and ask for the Bill amount and without receiving the bill I used to pay all the amount to avoid all the Penalty charges.
There are many complaints lodged by me that i am not getting the Bills at proper time and still the Bank is charging me the late payment charges.
8 months back I came to US and those followups were almost impossible. I did not get the Bill for the m/o Jul-11 and hence missed to made the payment.

In the m/o Dec-11, I saw there were around
1) Rs.6000 late payment charges which became accumulated month by month
2) Also there were Rs 2000 Renewal charges which i never asked for and which they never communicated to me.

Hence I called them asking for the due Amount. They told me total of Rs.10000 which includes late payment Fees and renewal charges. To avoid further charges I paid whole amount to Bank and then started following up.
Now Bank Official says they can reverse only Rs 2000 and corresponding 500 charges on it.

My question is that if I am not getting the bills , isn't it the Bank responsibility to be punctual on that instead of charging from Customers.
Also as a good service provider they could have sent me atleast one mail that your amount is due from last few months
They should have communicated for renewal charges before charging it to my account.

Caould you please help me in reversing these charges on my account so that I won't have to pay which i was never responsibile that too when the amount is not small.

I am having card [protected]

the statement for the month of November whose amount was Rs 1452 and due date was 13/12/2008 for which I made the payment vide cheque no, 660261on 11/12/2008.
I have again recd the demand letter mentioning the same amount alongwith penalty, why should I be asked to pay the penalty amount when I submitted the payment well in time. The descrepancy lagging on your side should not be passed on to customers.

HSBC Bank — Credit card charges with penalty without having Credit Card renewed

I had HSBC credit card and it got expired. The bank never approached for renewal of card and i did not approach bank to renew it as i dont need the card anymore. After 3 months, without having the card, i recieved the statement from bank with bank charges for card and penalty for not paying the bank charges. The card i earlier had was free card and never included any charges.

Because of above faulty statement, my personal loan of Rs2Lakh was rejected. When i call Customer Service they simply ignored and took a complaint to cancel the card. This is ridiculous service from HSBC and dont take the responsility of such mistakes.

Justice needed.

Please allow me to introduce myself my name is Michael Mason-Mahon and I am a shareholder of HSBC Plc. I am based in London yet I am a very regular visitor to India.

At HSBC Annual General Meeting of Shareholders 2010 I did address my concerns with the Board of Directors concerning what HSBC India has been doing and is doing in India to our customers.

I may be able to help you. I can assure you that I will do all that I can to help you. I have been very successful in the people that I have taken up their cases with HSBC. Now they will not let me help anymore Indian's. You may wonder why, ask the Chairman of HSBC Plc Mr Flint why.

Please go to this site. This is an interview that I did concerning HSBC.

If customers UNITE in India and decide to leave HSBC India in support of their fellow Indian's, who are making complaints about HSBC India then this may make HSBC Plc take action.
They talk about their Global Footprint and their Integrity. Please look at the following sites and see what the Indian people are saying about HSBC behaviour towards them.

Renewal is automatic and if you don't want you have to tell them beforehand to cancel. Secondly when you made the purchases you should have known that some amounts are pending which u should have cleared. when you know you wont be here then u shud follow up more diligently so that these things r not missed. There is an option of online banking for credit cards where you can check all the details and have all the statements. Bank do send the statements to your email ID but many a times they do not come in our inbox due to some issues. Get your registered ID changed to a diff ID at the bank.
Its good that they are at least returning you 2500. They can wave off other charges also provided you convince them. I understand that its not your fault that u didnt get the email but you should be extra alert to the amount you owe rather than leaving it for such a long time. In the end we are the borrowers and its our duty to pay on time.
I agree with the comment that i should have been more careful on that. But there were no shopping happened after that because afterwards I left the country and because there was no mail statement on previous amount i was not knowing to pay hence got missed.
As a good Banking practice they should consider that it was not the fault only from my side but from their side as well.
And I never worried of the charges because I always made the payments on time. Now I am realising how much expensive credit cards can be and how much Bankers can ditch when it comes to recovering the money from customers.
Dont we have any customer grievance forum where they can help me waiving off the charges which I am not responsible for.
I am aware of the fact that many of the customers when they don't pay Bankers contact them to pay the due amount and they request to pay atleast the shopping amount waiving off all other charges.
Is it the fault from my side that I paid beforehand without fighting or arguing on this?
