[Resolved]  HSBC Credit Card '[protected]' — Written Off in Cibil without Informing me

Hi...I am Manoj. This is regarding my HSBC Credit Card '[protected]' and I just got to know in last month that there is some written off against the HSBC Credit Card in my name.

Last year in 2007 I was there outside of India for three months and there was some amount due against my HSBC credit card. I paid all the due amount which I knew of Rs. 17000/- through check no 213929 but they have written off in Cibil without acknowledging me even I had not done any settlement with HSBC.

Last month I applied for a personal loan then I got to know that there is some written off against my name in 2007 and they did not approve my loan. I called up HSBC customer care and Collection Dept many times but they are not providing me the actual reason and not agreeing to help me on that.

I just want that written off should be removed from Cibil so that I can apply for loan if HSBC think something is due on me then let me know I will pay that.

I am really in trouble, could you please help me on that so that I can apply for a loan.

I emailed to Cibil to get the details. They provided the details as below.
“Account type: CREDIT CARD
Account Status: WRITTEN OFF
Amount Overdue: NIL
Reported by: HSBC
Account Information: [protected]
Date Reported:[protected]”

Please help.

Thanks,
Manoj Kumar

Actually HSBC is a fraud bank practising in India. its license should be removed and no longer allowed to continue its services.

ICICI is the best bank for Indian working conditions. They understand our needs and provide ful feedbacka nd customer satisfaction.

In Sep'08 I have fully paid my outstanding & the card status is also showing clsoed effective that date. But when last month I was checking custmercare of HSBC for some other service I noticed it is saying still outstanding of Rs.5585-00 there. I got surprised & enquired with custmer care they arer saying details are unknown but I need to pay.
One more surprising thing is even after I cleared still they are saying I need Rs.210 more.
Is this not a cheating? I am not using the card from 2 years & dont know the why the outstanding but still forced to clear outstanding.

HSBC Credit Card — CIBIL not updated with Credit card Closure and Current Balance

Hi,

I had a credit card (card no. [protected]) and it has been closed 1 year back. The closing request number is "[protected]". I was confirmed that the card is closed and the outstanding balance is Zero.

According to CIBIL report, i found the closure of the card and zero out standing balance is not updated with CIBIL. The report shows the current balance as Rs. 5939/-. This is impacting my credit history. I want the HSBC Bank Credit cards division to update the closure & current balance information to CIBIL as it would definetly hurt me if i have to opt for any loan.

Sir,
I have applied Personal Loan in ABN AMRO Bank in Dec 2009 and after scrutiny process of my credit history with CIBIL; my loan application has been rejected by ABN bank.
I have checked with CIBIL regarding my credit history and from their report, came to know that I am the defaulter at HSBC bank for some Credit Card accounts. The detail is as follows
Account Dates Amount Status
HSBC BANK Opened:[protected] H.Credit:2, 90, 459 Written Off
Account Number Last Payment:[protected] Balance: 2, 90, 459
[protected] Closed:[protected] Overdue: 2, 90, 459
Reported:[protected]

I want to share with you that in my entire life I never received Card “[protected]“. I called up your customer care and confirm the details about above Credit Account. I was completely shocked when I came to know that above card is on my name but Wrong Address, Wrong Date of Birth and all other information except Name.

This means this report showing all invalid data to my credit history. For this concern I requested CIBIL and HSBC customer care to correct my Credit History. They informed me that this process can be initiated only from HSBC bank as they provided that information.

I request you to please help me. process.

Best Regards,

Praveen Sharma

Hi Manoj,

How did you get the info from cibil by emailing them. Could you help me by telling about the process you followed to get the info from cibil through mail

Thanks a lot in advance!!!
This is very painful for me to become a HSBC customer, I got a credit card from HSBC credit card champagne scheme. At offer they said there is no annual charges, I never used this card for any transaction and there is no overdue amount to bank. Bank put some annual charges at the year end which they reversed also himself. I requested to bank to close my account as this card was not being used for me from a long time, There is no payment due from my side and everything is clear. After this HSBC put as a WRITTEN OFF satus in CIBIL report which looses my credit history this is very ridicules and don’t except this kind of behavior from a MNC bank.I am fed up now from HSBC and feeling very disgusting that I was a customer of HSBC and writing this to you now. HSBC will lose its credibility also in future from this kind of behavior
Hi Manooj,

I your problem resolved, i am also facing same issue as I had paid full amount to Bank against current balance but they are saying they will make zeo balance in CIBIl but will not remove written off status from written off to closed. pls help.
hi guys
Kindly refer Times of India Feb-24-2010 Bangalore Edition. There is some relief coming our way.

the article says

RBI to set norms on credit card bills
‘Banks cannot seek written off dues’

New Delhi: If you are among thousands of credit card holders who have been blacklisted in the banks’ central database even after dues have been settled, there’s some relief coming your way. The Reserve Bank of India is framing guidelines telling banks not to declare someone a defaulter if the person has settled his or her account with the bank after paying the negotiated amount.
At present, even if a card holder pays the negotiated amount, the client is continued to be treated as a defaulter in the bank’s records. Because of this, the name features in the defaulters list prepared by Credit Information Bureau of India Ltd (CIBIL), which depends on the information provided by banks for the purpose.
This makes most loans off-limits for the ‘blacklisted’ person ^ be it a personal or house loan ^ from any bank or finance company. Left with no choice, the customer has to settle the new bill raised by the bank, which is the ‘balance amount’ from the earlier settlement plus penalties and interest. “The present practice is nothing short of blackmail of customers by banks’’, said a harassed customer Arvind Gupta (name changed), who is CEO of an IT company. He had to pay Rs 75, 000 recently to clear his dues, which had previously been settled for 50% of the then outstanding amount ^ Rs 6, 200 in 2001. He was forced to pay when his home loan application was turned down by a bank as he was in CIBIL’s defaulter list.
An RBI spokesperson said the central bank is seized of the matter and will soon come out with an appropriate solution. CIBIL MD Arun Thukral said that RBI has held a series of meeting on the issue with banks and CIBIL. He said at present when dues are settled with a customer, the bank usually treats the rest of the amount as “written off’’.
However, in many cases, it has been found that banks raise demand for a small leftover amount, which according to the customer should not have been there at all. In many cases, it’s the annual fees which the banks had said won’t be charged.
Take for the example of Arun Sharma (name changed), who works for a big corporation. After he had disputed a bill of Rs 900 raised by the bank, he was told to settle the dues by paying Rs 450. However, he continued to receive statements which first showed Rs 450 as outstanding and then the amount kept increasing. After a while, he received a call from the bank asking him to clear his dues of around Rs 1, 000.
The bank again offered to settle the dues for the 50% of the amount and said it will issue him an “all dues cleared’’ certificate if he made the payment. Sharma paid Rs 500 but the certificate from the bank never came. Meanwhile, he continued to receive statements on the outstanding amount which has now grown to Rs 7, 000. His credit rating with CIBIL is also at risk.
Thukral said RBI was very serious about intervening in the matter.

Hope this will bring some relief to many

Nathan
It seem a nice post.

I think there should be some norms :

For example:-

If credit score goes above xx points AND last 24 months credit history is improved the person should come out of the default list and can be some other norms as well.
I too have trapped by HDFC and SCB. When I applied for home loan I got to know my disputed outstanding amount which was 400 and 500 respectively (due to wrongly charged annual fee), have become now 5000 rs.

I paid my outstanding but its been one month and Bank has not updated my cinil record.

whom should i contact for HDFC and SCB related CIBIL query ?

main issue is they dont give any person's contact number and solving issue over the mail by these folks take ages.

loans — written off case

my name is jadda mallaiah . there was written off case aginst my name in CIBIL info.I would like to know the details. Please furnish to [protected]@gmail.com. my mobile number is [protected].

I took a credit card from HSBC in the year 2008 and closed after 4 months without making any transactions.

Now I applied for SBI House Loan and they said I have a "written off" amount with HSBC bank. I contacted HSBC and they said that I have a TATA AIG policy attached with credit card. But I never applied for the insurance policy.

They also sent a application form for the insurance policy, the signature on the application form is not my signature.

This is not fair on their part.
Saying an international bank they are doing this kind of fraud.

Please guys never apply for HSBC credit cards. They will try to cheat you.
Please allow me to introduce myself my name is Michael Mason-Mahon and I am a shareholder of HSBC Plc. I am based in London yet I am a very regular visitor to India.

At HSBC Annual General Meeting of Shareholders 2010 I did address my concerns with the Board of Directors concerning what HSBC India has been doing and is doing in India to our customers.

I may be able to help you. I can assure you that I will do all that I can to help you. I have been very successful in the people that I have taken up their cases with HSBC. Now they will not let me help anymore Indian's. You may wonder why, ask the Chairman of HSBC Plc Mr Flint why.

Please go to this site. This is an interview that I did concerning HSBC.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

If customers UNITE in India and decide to leave HSBC India in support of their fellow Indian's, who are making complaints about HSBC India then this may make HSBC Plc take action.
They talk about their Global Footprint and their Integrity. Please look at the following sites and see what the Indian people are saying about HSBC behaviour towards them.

Now ask yourself is this the Bank for you in India.

So if you would like to contact me and send me your phone number I will call you personally.

Kind regards

experienced similar problem with SCB, summary of the issue is..

I came to know that my SCB card status turned to written off in CIBIL, because my PL got rejected in last month. called to customer care they said that they don't have access to see transaction more than a year, for the entire year they can only see that 350/-charged every month (300 as tax, 50 as service charages).. when I digged to this issue with SCB backend department. .

There is some problem with my JUNE2007 bill pay.. as per statement it got delayed one day, so they charged. 250 RS interest, acutally the same month before interest got charged into my a/c I used 23800 (24k limit), because of interest it got exceeded the limit 24k, so extra 500/- charged as overlimit. Trust me as I don't have any communication (mail/email/message/call) from lender so I just paid 23800 in the next month. so this 250(JUn2007) now turned to 13000 (MAR 2011)..

some interesting facts are..
1. even SCB backend team confirmed that no communcation made to me either mail/email/sms/call from MAY 2007
2. a/c status in their records showing as closed, but still they are charging 350(300 interste+50 service chage) every month
3. When I asked about service charge (50/-) what it contains, they said that they are not sure what it includes since i may ask about no communcation
4. why no statement - they said sicne there is no trasactions in your a/c (apart form intestests) so no statement sent to your email.
5. now to get rid off written off status in CIBIL, I have to pay whole 13000 for not using the card from past 4 years. even they are telling that they can update OVERDUE and Current balance fileds only .. WRITTEN OFF status could be something xxxxxxx(not sure), apart from this they are willing to issue (NDC) no due certificate..

so guys, whoever read this post my honoroble request for you is - please track your all cards dues every month either through online/calling to customer to avoid un-ncessary issues in future.. otherwise close the card a/c's which don't require any more..

HSBC bank are the great CHEAT and CORRUPT bank...
NEVER BE PART OF HSBC BANK ...
I AM SUFFEERER OF WRITTEN OFF CASE BY THIS DUE TO PROBLEM SIMILAR TO AS ABOVE..

I AM SPREADING THIS INFORMATION TO EVERYONE..
LET EVERY ONE CANCEL THEIR HSBC BANK CREDIT CARD AND MAKE THEM UNDERSTAND...
My HSBC credit card [protected] was settled on 24.05.2011. But JM Financial associate of HSBC Bank sent me a letter o 1.05.2013 which I received just one week before at my home Kolkata showing a balance of Rs.49831.64. This is gross irresponsibility /mistake/blunder of the Bank that they did not incorporate the right message to their associate.
It's my request to take a positive action against this type of knowing mistake for harassing civilian continuously.
