[Resolved]  India Today Book Club — www.bookstoday.in/promos..htm does not exist

I had placed an order for 12CDS of Encyclopedia Britannica & Discover, which promised Free Reebok Tracksuit & and a holiday voucher/coupon for 3days/2nights stay with veg meals for a couple for Rs.2499/- (incl. Rs.500/-) handling charges on Jan., 17th 2009. I have received the 12CDS and Reebok Tracksuit but not the holiday voucher as mentioned. Instead the Invoice mentions that to claim the free holiday voucher gift we have to log on to www.bookstoday.in/promos.htm within 60days of the invoice date but to my surprise the said site does not exist. When the remittance was already credited to India Today Book Club, why the Holiday Voucher was not send alongwith the CD & Tracksuit. In this scenario, if you are not able to log on to the site, one is sure to loose the holiday voucher. This simply seems to be an eyewash. There are already 637 complaints against this company. Has the company ever thought how this in turn going to affect the reputation of the company? It's one kind of cheating.

You are requested to look into the matter on priority basis, otherwise the matter will be put forward to Consumer Forum, media coverage and definately it's going to affect the reputation.

I absolutly agree with you. The way they fool innocent customers. You can sear in my name in this forum, you will find my complaint made in Feb 09.

Now also I get calls to get a free Holiday, free gifts etc. which I flatly refuse. And have informed by friends and relatives not to deal with ITBC - INDIA TODAY "CHOR" CLUB.

I had been taken for a ride by this same old company. Same problems were faced by me. in JAN - MAR 09. (you can see my complaint by searching my name in this forum)

I had received an offer from India today offering me a gift package including 3 round air tickets to any destination in India & a 2 nights 3 days holiday package any where in India along with other gifts -a set of books & a digital camera, i have already paid Rs. 5784 through my credit card &received confirmation fr my bank confirming the amt. being credited to India Today Book Club. now after ringing on the helpline i come to know that only 1 air ticket will be given & i have not received the holiday package. This kind of behaviour from such a reputed magazine is uncalled for. The people who contacted me were agents-AKASH & DILIP, & I was given a booking ID .NO[protected]. i request u to contact me for I have a holiday planned on December 20th with my family on the basis of your offer. I have read the many complains previously & I hope u respond positively proving the good name o[censored]r concern.
Round-Trip air ticket worth Rs. 7, 000/- still not received. My letter dated August 18, 2009 is not responded.

I have received the products but there is no response to the complaints for non-receipt of the assured free gifts even after 5-6 mails.
The site gives a monotonous reply of "Incorrect Entry" and the contact nos. given are not responding
Even after some BITTER talks, the sales representative's calls are there but even those are not concerned regarding the previous complaints. They only are interested in booing new products.

I am not able to contact the person who has started this promotional offer of claim free adidas bag abd ... Sir you have promised to give the thing than you have to give it along with the delivery of the goods. I am not able to understand the way you are working because the people sitting at your call centers are also not able to reply properly to the query.

ITBC — Pathetic Service | Double Payment asked for a single order | No receipt of order even after 6 months of booking

I had booked an order from this company ITBC (I really don’t know whether his India Today is the same prestigious magazine which even politicians wish to endorse) under the order no M-COMMERCE/0GA[protected] on 25th Jan 2009 for a Black Chrono Swatch Watch for Rs 3199/- The transaction no is [protected]. I waited for the order till around 25th Feb. I received neither the order nor any tracking form the company. So I decided to enquire about the order The have a toll free no [protected], which never works probably works only on the website for mentioning. I called them on[protected]. After about 15 mins of wait I was being assisted by a CCE (Customer Care Executive). I gave him the booking details and he gave me some nonsensical excuses for the delay. He again initiated the process of sending the order, thus bringing me back to square 1. This time when the parcel arrived they asked me to do the payment on receipt. Now this was a shock to me, that I have to pay twice for the same order, so I rejected the parcel and I informed this incident to the company. I was fed up with the kind of service they provided and now I wanted cash back. The CCE confirmed that I would be granted cash back once I provide them my credit card statement which shows them the transaction. Now why the hell they need that if they have received the amount from the payment gateway. Even then I provided them with the snapshot of my credit card statement. After that there was no response. I tried a lot many more time to ask the status of the complaint no 28226. I left the hope of having my cash from these very high profile cheats.

But suddenly on 20th May I received a call from them that they want to confirm the address to send the order. I stressed on the fact that I have already paid for the order and even the CCE agreed after checking the records and confirmed that you don’t have to pay on delivery, but again the same story. The courier company asks for the payment on receipt of the parcel.

I have tried a lot of times to communicate this inconvenience to their call centre. But, their CSE are very smart, they have ready made statements for all your queries “Sir, Your request has been forwarded to the concerned department and you would be receiving a mail in 15 days”. Even when I called them in March, April, May, their reply never changed. I really don’t know whether such a department really exists.

Even today I have received a SMS from ITBC stating that the order no 0GA[protected] is sent through Blue Dart 0RA[protected]MC (probably docket no.) and again they have asked for cash on delivery.

I really need some assistance to get my money back from these cheats.

On 04/09/2009 ia have placed my order for "REEBOK GYM KIT" by paying Rs.2398. As per the advertisement i am supposed to get FREE HOLIDAY STAY. worth of Rs.5000/=. At the time of booking my order, i was told that, once we receive the GYM KIT, they will call us give information on how to claim Holiday package.
But till now i did not get any response. When i have called on customer care :[protected] i was told that to go to web site: www.bookstoday.in/promos.htm.

After looging into www.bookstoday.in/promos.htm, i did not find any provision to claim my holiday gift. Hence, please let me know the correct details.

I had booked a Samsung phone on 9th Sept.09 and paid for it online on that day itself. I got the phone and watch on 29th Sept.09 but I have yet to get the diamond jewellery voucher and the free air ticket. I have got a letter from India Today Book Club asking me to log on to their site www.bookstoday.in/promos.htm within 60days of invoice date but the said site does not exist or is not accessible at all. I wonder how many more people the company has cheated like this

I had ordered the book "complete world history" from India Today Book Club as they had offered free return air ticket worth 7000 rupees but it seems to be just a trick to fool the customers.When I got the book it was mentioned on the invoice (NO. ORAO[protected] to log on www.bookstoday.in/promos.htm within 60 days of invoice date for claiming the gift and when I logged on the site and entered the details it shows "You have made incorrect entries". I tried several times and checked the invoice carefully but everytime I get the same response. It seems the website is not working or maybe it has been intentionally done to avoid the customers.
