[Resolved]  India Today Book Club — Non receipt of free gifts

I have paid in full the amount Rs. 1099 in cash for which I was supposed to have been given 8 Music CDs produced by Music India, one Reebok T-shirt and One Bag. I received the Cds on 27th March. I tried to log on to the website intimated by India Today group www.bookstoday.in/promos.htm, but could not. I tried calling teh land line number[protected] and was told the website is out of order and till the website is restored nothing can be done about the free gifts. I have been given a number but if the claim is not made within two months the claim is automatically invalidated. What can I do?

India Today Book Club — Non receipt of ordered/ paid product

Dear Sir,
I have ordered on line for a pack of CD's Encyclopedia on 29th August 2008 and paid the amount of Rs. 574/00 by credit card.Though I recd confirmation that the order will be processed in 4 to 5 weeks time and delivered at the given address no delivery has been made to me even after 8 months. I continue to be flooded with e mails and SMS for more such fake offers every day. I have tried to contact the company and lodged complaint but every time they say that it will be delivered in 10 days.

The order NO as given by them is OGA[protected]

How can I get back my money and what penal action can be taken against the company. Can u pls let me know how my grievance can be settled.

indiatodaybookclub — Two items missing

I have recd. offer from indiatoday bookclub for Reebok kit containing 6 items on my mobile on 25th march 2009. i had accepted the offer and through credit card i paid the amount Rs.2, 998.My order No. is[protected]. offers was given by some Mr. Sahid from indiatoday bookclub.

After long follow-up on 04.05.2009 i have received only four(4) items instead of six (as Promised at the time of offer). I have recd. T-shirt, short pant, socks & shoes.
at the time of offer i was told that other than above four items i will get Reebok travelling bag and Towel . Today I have longed my complain on their helpline no.[protected] also.(Compalin no.is 91104), even send e'mail also.
A hardware shop owner refused to give us e free satchet of dettol liquid soap along with Robin Blue.He justified his act by saying that alhough the robin blue bottle mentioned dettol liquid soap as free alongwith it but since the new lot that had arrived in his shop did not give any such offer therefore he would not give it along with the old one.He said that he had not received any dettol liquid soap alongwith those Robin Blue bottles.Does this come under a case of consumer protection?

Same thing happened to me as well. Just that I gave up...after calling around 10-15 times. I was to get a free Reebok bag and Hotel stay after purchasing their CD pack. I am not sure if I have their Invoice number etc. However, I am in their list as still I keep on getting very tempting offers. Please advise what to do.

Only for Phone calls followup itself I have wasted around Rs.600/ think this will be much more than the watch cost.

I think this is not at all fair from ITBC side. For this simple thing I have made several followup's.

If not possible please let me know. The commitment while making the order, as well as during followup in not at all kept up. This is shame on ITBC's part. I really did not think ITBC will cheat this much.

Please don't make fool of me anymore, I am fedup.

I had the same problem; when I tried logging on to their website with the promotion code, I was unable to do so. So this is really a BIG SCAM
I had registered for Rs.60 lacs sweepstake entry on the mail received from [protected]@irctc.co.in. Thereafter I got a mail from India Today Book Club (ITBC) for successful registration in the sweepstake entry with passcode.

Thereafter I got a phone call from ITBC offering 12 devotional CD's @Rs.2249. In return they have informed the following freebies worth Rs.3999/- would be provided alogwith the CD's :

1. Reebok T-shirt
2.Addidas bag


Today I have received only the CD's, whereas all other things as above have not been received.

On speaking to them they have informed to log on their website bookstoday.in/promos.htm and claim free gifts by mentioning the unique identification number.

Unfortunately after trying several times it is not being logged and shows error in the identification number.

ITBC have failed in their commitments and have failed to deliver the freebies and now are giving excuse of logging on their sites for claiming the gifts. It is misleading and people are fooled after they have made the payment.

The matter is to be taken up seriously with them and ensure they fulfil their committments or pay the money back to me alonwith penalty and fine so that such things are not repeated in future.

In response to you offer through SMS I had placed order for devotional CDs (20) and have recd a confirmation through SMS on 22 May. However the product has not yet been delivered to me. India Today Book Club — Non receipt of free gift & No response

I subscribe to India Today Book Club's Free gift scheme by paying Rs 2249 in the month of Dec, 2008 vide order Ref. No. OGA[protected] but I am yet to receive my free gift. I made several complaints to ITBC ( Complaint No 46063 Dt 31/03/09, 93277 Dt 06/05/09, 993912 Dt 23/05/09, 130029 Dt 09/06/09, 148828 Dt 08/07/09) but there is no response.The call centre staff of ITBC is trained to give a fixed reply
every time to wait for another 15 days which as ususal pass without taking any action. ITBC has certainly found a genious way to fool people. Instead of giving a proper response they keep on sending offers one after another.
I seek this forum expecting some action.
