[Resolved]  Indian Railways — Refund for Cancelled Tickets

To
Ministry of Indian Railways

Dear Sir/ Madam

I have filed TDR refund for 12 tickets (as attached) with IRCTC on date : 13th July 2009. Its 5 months from that day that I am begging for my own money at the fault of Indian Railways but still not received the refund. I am frustrated after spending my time & energy in doing follow up for the TDR refund.
The TDR was claimed because I Canceled the tickets on 13th July 2009.
TDR status (as in attached sheet) clearly reflects that it was approved by their ADMIN & showing 'Refund under process' from last 5 months.
I have called Chennai customer care many times as they are asking me to call to Delhi. If I call to Delhi these fellows are telling call to Kalkatta and send a mails to below ids
1. [protected]@irctc.co.in
2. [protected]@irctc.co.in
3. [protected]@irctc.co.in

I have sent a mails many times but every times they are reploying with the ame mail
as mentioned below this mail.

I have called many times since I am asked to give a call to bellow numbers
[protected], [protected], [protected], [protected] , [protected], and customer care numbers

As per the TDR refund rules its supposed to be credited within 90 days but in my case its been 150 days ( 5 months ) that I havent got the same.
Everytime IRCTC sends email to me saying that they have sent reminder to concerned Railways but I am not bothered about the reminders but for my hard earned money which I have LOST.
Request you to please intervene into this matter for my refund amount & compensate for the loss of time, money & energy spent by me in fighting for my own rights.

Below communication mails attached for reference.

Regards
Venkat.S.A

Indian Railways — Regarding refund for cancelled ticket

Respected Sir/ Madam,

I had cancelled an E-ticket (PNR No : [protected] and the Transaction ID: [protected]) few days ago. The amount has not been credited to my account so far. I have registered the complaint with IRCTC through [protected]@irctc and also ove the phone. But it availed no help. Kindly provide the needful help.

Indian Railway — Not willing to refund my money

Hi,
This is my grivence and complain to railway with regards to my ticket PNR No [protected] for Tata Yeswantpur express on 02/05/2008 (Friday) for my parents from Rourkela to Yeswantpur.
I booked the ticket through IRCTC on the day of journey I found that due to some accident happen in between Tatanagar Jn to Rourkela Jn, so the train no 2889 will not arrive to Rourkela. My parents asked the railway official the other alternative way, they told to cancel the ticket on next day (03/05/2008). On 03/05/2008 they said as the ticket was booked through irctc to cancellation will be done at destination station. On 06/05/2008 I gone to Yeswantpur to cancel the ticket they told me to get the cancellation receipt from origin station then they will cancel the ticket. Ultimately I tored the ticket and thrown away and then writing this complain to you.
Observation and Suggestion
1. Could have provided a alternative train
2. Misguided the passengers.
3. Got information IRCTC and Indian Railway as no where related.
4. Train cancellation was not our fault, but railway does not want to return my money so they ask all these.
5. Railway station enquiry number not their in the website.
6. How to speak to higher officials no way.
Being a railway official you do not know which train is cancelled or should have guided in a correct way to cancel the ticket.
I will claim this amount and even more for harashing physically and mentally.
Please take this matter seriously so that I should not loose my money because of your fault.
You can call me at [protected] or send me mail at [protected]@gmail.com

I tried to put this complain in Indian railway official site but it says that "Invalid message".
Indian railway site is also horrible to get the information.
First EMail

I am trying to cancel my E-Ticket since morning 5.30 am however I am not able to do so as whenever I click on Cancel E-Ticket error comes which says "Unable to retrive due to communication failure".

Please help me to cancel my ticket. Moreover as it is a fault of your website therefore I should get full refund of the fare.

Second EMail

As I spoke to one of of your supervisors today and I was told that I would get only 50% of the total fare as refund as I have marked the mail after the chart was prepared.

However as mentioned in the previous mail I was trying to cancel the ticket online since 5.30 am IST and I was not able to do so due to the fault in your website. When I called up at your customer care number on 28th may 2008 I was told that I should mark a mail to IRCTC to get the ticket cancelled as there was a problem in the website since last two days.

Moreover your website still has the same problem till today.
Its really pathetic on IRCTC's part where you people are not aware of the problem in your website. How incompitent your IT department is that they are not able to track an eror in the website.

As It was a problem with your website so IRCTC should refund the standard amout after cacellation of the ticket.

Please find the attached file which shows that the problem with the website still remains the same even today.
Unable to cancel tickets since 7pm ultimately sent an email, no response upto 1am... called the helpdesk- no response.

I had got a waiting i-ticket which could not be confirmed even after chart preparation. Thus I was not able to travel against this ticket. The ticket coulld not be cancelled at the cancellation counter as the cancellation counter closed at 12:00 am while the train was for 11:45 pm.

Since the status was waiting on the ticket and I did not travel I wanted the cancellation of the ticket and the refund against it.

I contacted IRCTC and they adviced "kindly Surrender the I-Ticket with the Station Master and obtain a Ticket Deposit Receipt" for which I replied - "I have already travelled down to Kanpur by road, should I submit the train ticket to the TTE in Kanpur now?" Thereafter I did not receive any response even after several reminders to IRCTC.

Indian Railways — Regarding refund

On 11/02/2012 3 seats were booked with the train number 18208 from jaipur to Bilaspur while the transaction was under process the charges are recovered from my bank account whereas the tickets were not confirmed as the internet services were disconnected.
After viewing the status position tickets were again booked and charges were again collected on confirmation of seats on the said train.
Thus my bank account was debited twice against the confirmation of 3 seats.Hence the excess amount collected may please be refunded of Rs 928 to me without levying any charges at the earliest convenience.
The incident is also reported on phone on the same day.
