Hello, I got a call from Insurance Verification Department, Delhi from Phone No.[protected] and a person, namely Rahul Singh informed me that my father had a insurance policy with Reliance Insurance which was matured in December 2012. But as we didn't claim for the above policy, its been forwarded to Insurance Verification Department for cancellation and its the last date if i want to claim. When i asked for the folio no. or policy no., he told that they can't give me those informations due to security reasons and if i want to get the claim, i have to submit some identity papers with a cheque for Rs. 35, 000/- against the process. When i told him that i have a doubt on him, he promised me to send the informations on my mail-id but still i am looking for his mail.
though the guy was very much confident and he almost caught me in a confidence but i want to know if there is any such department or its a fake call.

With Regards,

i also got a call from the number [protected], claiming that they are from insurance verification department...from all above comments in this blog i am sure it was a fake call, i asked him whether its a government organization or not he was unable to answer clearly, he wants to know my policy details, but when i asked him more questions he ended the call.
in my opinion it was a fake call and one should not disclose any of policy details to them.

Hello, I too received a call from number[protected] and guy on other side said he is from Insurance Cancellation Department under Ministry of Finance. He told me that they have received request for cancellation of money back from some private policy. By chance, I am having a LIC policy with some reputed private company and my money back payment is due in couple of months also. Anyway, I got suspicious and the I confirmed money back details with my online account as well as I called up insurance company and checked up with them. They said your money back will be due in NOv'13. Today also same guy called and I said that I am not aware of any such - Insurance Cancellation department. I asked him to provide their website address. He simply disconnected the phone.

So I would advice to all to not to entertain them at all and shoo them away.

Best wishes
I am also getting the same call from the so called Insurance Verification Department [protected].

First they talked about any problems you have with any insurance company or your policy you are holding.

After some time, they will start selling you their policy. When you wont provide any details and you start asking the authenticity of the call or department, they start misbehaving.
Today I received a call from the phone no. [protected]. The person calling said he Amit Mishra is from Insurance Verification Department and is surveying the customers for for their level of satisfaction with their insurance companies. On further enquiry he stated that he has been authorised by IRDA. On visitng the site of IRDA I didn't find any link showing any such authorisation. This is latest technique of agents to allure the innocent customers in their trap. All such calls should straightaway be ignored.

I often receive calls from these so called Insurance Verification Department and when I asked him why there have so many calls from your department his reply was that " sometimes the data gets lost so they call again for verification, " which was not satisfactory reply for me. There is no such govt. Agency in real.

How can these Individuals be held to account, and who can help me cancel the reliance policy ? Kindly help thanks
I too received a call from a lady called Rekha from phone number +91-[protected] she claimed that I was to receive 40 % dividend on my LIC policy and since I had not claimed it, it was going to be cancelled and distributed to the Agent. Since they do last minute check before cancelling, they called me up on my phone number to verify. She claimed she was calling from the Hyderabad office. I Asked her simple questions like which policy she was talking about and what is the premium amount and insured amount, she said she did not have details, then said she could not divulge details on the phone. I was suspiscious of her and as soon as she realized that she ended the call.

What I would like to know is where and how I can complain against such calls.
