whether the student is hindu, muslim sikh or christian ,in this school he/she has to chant the hindu mantra 'om' compulsorily five times with closed eyes.

it is a direct humiliation for children who follow other faiths .

children of defence personnel from all religions study in central schools(k.v)

somethiong must be done about it at the earliest

Om is not a word but rather an intonation, which, like music, transcends the barriers of age, race and culture. It is made up of three Sanskrit letters, aa, au and ma which, when combined together, make the sound Aum or Om. It is believed to be the basic sound of the world and to contain all other sounds. It is a mantra or prayer in itself. If repeated with the correct intonation, it can resonate throughout the body so that the sound penetrates to the centre of one's being, the atman or soul. There is harmony, peace and bliss in this simple but deeply philosophical sound.
and if people should go by your theory then the first to be stoned will be the Christian institutes here. I received my education in one such reputed institute and was often asked to recite some weird prayers. Yeah you guessed right, i didnt bulge and went always severely punished. The first preference for anything and everything from who should be the head boy to who will receive serving first in the canteen went to SECULAR christians. Catch the sarcasm.
I was once a student of that school and I totally disagree with you. Om is something chanted for the peace of mind, and has nothing to do with religion. And as for the school, we celebrate each and every festival, may it be christmas or eid ! There is no such discrimination of religion in any Kendriya Vidyalayas that i know of !

I think OM word is very much hindu and people should try to make Kendriya Vidyalayas secular as possible and it is not a place to enforce your ideals or religious faiths onto others. People should be free to practice any religion as our constitution says what we all expect from our secular country India.
