[Resolved]  Kwality Caterer Pantry car — Refusal to supply sugarless tea in Sleeper Class

Sub : Complaint against misbehaviour and refusal to supply Tea without Sugar to the passengers of Sleeper Class in 2303Up Poorva Express leaving HWH on 21/09/09.

I was travelling in 2303 Up along with my wife and niece from Burdwan to New Delhi on 21/09/09 after purchasing ticket from Talkal quota in S-2 compartment, Berth No. 70. 71 & 72. We both are Senior Citizen and have been many health problems. In the afternoon when the Pantry Car contractor bearer (Kwality Caterers) came to sell in our compartment I requested him to supply us tea without sugar due to diabetic problem but he refused to supply the same saying that it was not possible to supply the same in cups. Then I requested him to supply one flask tea without sugar, but I was stunned to hear his rude reply that as per rule this facility can only be availed by the A.C. class passengers and passengers traveling by Sleeper Class are not entitled to avail such facilities. When I asked him to send Pantry Car Manager he told me that Manager is not bound to attend the complaints of Sleeper class passengers. Thus we had to cover entire journey without the minimum facility of getting sugar less tea, due to this my wife who is habituated to take such tea in afternoon and fell sick up to our destination as it was not possible on my part to have tea from stall as our coach was rear to Engine and stopped far away from the Tea stalls. Now I want to know whether the Railways do not think the Sleeper Class passengers as human being and will be looked down upon in comparison to A.C. Class passengers by the Pantry Car staffs. If so, I would request you kindly to rename the ‘Sleeper class’ as ‘Cattle Class’ so that passengers will not demand any facility from the Railway administration as human beings and providing good facilities even to Senior Citizens . So, I, am approaching you directly either to take stern action against the erring Pantry Cars provided in different trains or accept my request to change the name of ‘Sleeper Class’ as ‘Cattle Class’.

I don’t know the fate of my complaint and now it is up to you to inform me what action you prefer to take and inform me accordingly.
