[Resolved]  Lenovo 3000 N100 — Laptop Battery

Hi,

I purchased a Lenovo brand new 3000 N100 Laptop in November 2006. Product ID: 0768A35
In Jan 2008, one day the battery of my laptop suddenly konded off. Before it stopped working completely it used to gie me about 2.5 hours of backup. As the warranty was only for 1 year, so nobody at Lenovo (Call Center and all serice stations) is actually listening. They only have one standard statement, "If it is out of Warranty, You have to buy a new battery costing Rs. 6, 800/-)
In few of the forums I saw that lots of customers had similar complaint with this series of Lenoo Laptops. I doubt like others if they have pre-programmed that the battery will stop working after the warranty of 1 year gets expired.
Obviously Lenovo does not sell laptops saying that the Battery will not last for even 2 years. It is not about Warranty not actie, but the real issue is the product has to function properly even after warranty. Nobody would buy a laptop if we need to invest on battery every 14-16 months.

Im trying if someone can help. If nothing works I may even File a Lawsuit against Lenovo under Consumer Court.

Lenovo 3000 N100 notebook Battery — Replacement battery does not work as well

Hi,

Guys in continuation to my previous article in this forum, I wanted to highlight that Lenovo guys replaced my battery after lots of follow up with [protected]@in.ibm.com in the month of Apr'08. However after 6-7 months same problem repeated. The battery initially used to work only for few minutes and finally stopped working at all. I had been following up with Lenovo guys since Nov'08 however they have only one statement to make "The battery can not be replaced as your notebook is not under Warranty and you will have to purchase a new battery". I am still trying to fight with them, however if they do not replace the battery, Im convinced to file a legal complaint against them. Whoever wants to join me can send their name, contact nos & email ID to me at [protected]@rediffmail.com

I wanted to know how does this portal helps, other than sharing our pains. Can someone throw some light on this ??

since the lenovo acquisited the IBM notebook department, the price are cheaper the before, I got a thinkpad z61p four years ago, now i can't find the fit battery for may laptop but to purchase a replacement in http://www.usa-batteries.com/laptop/ibm-thinkpad-z61p-series-battery.htm, fortunately the battery go well.

But the battery again stopped working after providing a service of around one year.Now i also believe that the company had cheated us by providing us the wrong material now so nobody at Lenovo (Call Center and all serice stations) is actually listening. They only have one standard statement, "If it is out of Warranty, You have to buy a new battery costing Rs. 6, 000/-).after this i used my laptop directly by ACpower and after some day it konded off, this is the another problem.
I purchased a Lenovo second hand 3000 N100 Laptop in just 2 days back after charging 4 to 5 hours the battery display 100% charged. after when i use with laptopn with battery, within 20 min it shows low battery message. what is the problem plz reply soon.

I am another person cheated by Lenovo, Same probolem as you all are facing 2 year 2 batteries.
So the best suggestion it : Never ask anyone to purchase LENONO Laptops".

Here is one more victim. Bought Lenovo 3000 N100 in Aug 2007 in Hong Kong. This piece of crap stops working once the plug is pulled. battery number says:
FRU P/N 42T5252
ASM P/N 92P1183

Is there anything we are going to do, aka a class action suite or we are here just to cry foul? I am not sure, but I think we need to drag these b... to court.

lenavo 3000n100 — battery of this model is very much of low standard

i have puchase lenavo 3000n100 model laptop. its battery became useless within a yr. company provided me another battery under warrenty period. but this new battery also beame functionless.This is not only proble with me, many of my friendssuffer with same problem.they also kept prices very high.these are the motto of company to extract money from consumer.

I am also facing this problem.This is the second time I am facing this problem.Last year at this time, when my lappy was in warranty period, I replaced my battery.Now again I am facing this problem, with in an year.This is really disgrace on the part of Lenovo. Developing batteries of such poor life is fooling the consumers. I feel we need to make a legal move against the company and demand the compensation.

I have got FRU 92P1186 battery.from vivek's post I came to know that there was a replacement programme for this battery type till Oct 1st 2008.I got issued this battery around same time and I still face same problem with in year. I feel Lenovo has did nothing on improving the battery life.I still have to talk to the Lenovo dealers about my case and try for a replacement.
I had the same problem. Company says they extended the battery warranty 6 monts more making total of 18 month but how many custumers were informed of it. At the time of sale of laptop, company takes the contact information of the customers but never botherd of informing about their faulty product. And now some lonovo people use to say that batteries are like tyres. Its life depends on use.. But friends, just think that why only lenovo batteries goes off so early, why not any other brand batteries.
Even after knowing the fact, company is trying to fool their customs.

I was not aware of extend 6 monts warranty, neither the dealer was aware of it. I purchased my first battery in Rs 6800, just in 14 months... and again after 15 months..the battery died. So its like spending Rs 6800 after every 15-16 months...so that company gets some more out of their customers pocket...

I am an electronic hobbiest, so i opened the battery pack and it was shocking that all the 6 cells inside the pack were fine. Problem was with the protection circuit board. It stopped woking, whatever may be the reason. Then i enquired the thing with some more lenovo users... and found that some of them went with compatible battery pack. And friends, these unbranded battery packs are working very fine and even after 2 years, they dont give any problem.

I just wanted to suggest every lenovo customer not to buy any lenovo product... as our experience force us to conclude that lenovo has a strategy to get the money out of the pocket of customers, even after selling the product. And for our laptops battery... go for compatible battery packs.. no lenovo batteries again... because lenovo is not going to listen to anyone.. if they are replacing any battery, the new one has the same issue bundled with it. So it not the solution.

What we can do one more thing that we take some of our time out and communicate with each other and together we can file case in the consumer court. Atleast this kind of fraud act should be stopped.

Lenovo — damaged battery

I have faced the same problems with my laptop, one fine morning the laptop battery started discharging really fast and from yesterday it has stopped working, and i too was not aware of the 18 months extended warranty
I bought this one from bangalore last year for my sister n it worked nicely. This feb when i was back home i was using it n it felt like working with desktop always need power cabal to be attached or else it will power off after couple of minute. Since she is noob regarding computer stuff so no complain but i feel bad for gifting her this model.
I bought lenova 300 N100 series and facing the same issue like you guys are facing. can anyone give more information on compatible battery. I don't want to by lenova battery again.

i have also an 3000 n100, pro id 0768-04u,
i got my laptop on oct'07 and the battery last 6 mth, i called up the cc and they told me the battery guarantee is counted from its manufactured date . That means my guarantee wasted 6 mth as i bought after 6mth its manufacture date.
Since then i have been using on AC adapter, i found even my friend battery is also dead

I found on their forum that its not a battery problem but b'coz of an inbuilt faulty ic (bq80201)

the circuit has to be replaced, i don't know how OR else whatever battery you replaced it will have the same problem.
