[Resolved] LG Electronics — LG front load washing machine
I would like to introduce myself as an engineer who designs washing machines. I work for an organisation that sells washing machines outside India. I'm aware of the fact that appliance manufacturers are bound to design their products so that at least 90% of their products are reliable for ten years of life
I own an LG washing machine front load WD85260-NP for more than two years now. One fine day the machine stopped working. I registered a service request with LG and the technician who visited my home said that I had to replace the control board which would cost Rs. 5000. I called LG after sales service team to know if this is what they expect their customers to do, shelling out Rs. 5000 for a washing machine which was purchased for Rs. 16000 in the third year itself, when the appliance is expected to survive for at least ten years. The LG senior executives advised me to buy the new control as the warranty had lapsed. I would like LG to disclose to the customers before purchase the percentage of such failures. I'm of the opinion that mine is not a stray case but there may be several other cases. LG will have to design their product for at least ten years of life. I strongly recommend people not to buy LG front load washing machines. Also this raises a serious concern of LG's attitude towards its customers. They are not bothered of the customers once the sale has made.
