[Resolved]  Ministry Of External Affairs (Passport) — Passport online status: granted, but not received yet

Sir,
I am a practicing Advocate and permanently living in 1/68, Sahid Gopinath Nagar, P.O. Mallickpara, P.S. Serapore, Distt. Hooghly, West Bengal - 712203. My first Passport was issued in the above address and since 1990 I was sifted to Delhi for Joining in the Supreme Court and upto 2007 I was there. In the meantime my passport was renewed in Delhi address. Again due to my illness I came back to my abov permanent adress in the year 2007 and since then I am living in the aforesaid address and again I applied for my passport renewal in the above present and permanent address. I have applied for my present renewal of passport on 31.08.2010 and DIB enquiry has been completed before October, 2010. The enquiry Officer's name is Mr. Susanta Mukherjee, under Serampore P.S. after several enquiry they are saying that the your matter is under Distt. Office, Hooghly. My File reference No.CAL :

Hi,

I have applied passport long time and now passport is ready yet it is not dispatch. The status keeps on changing saying "Passport has been granted and is expected to be despatched by[protected]. Subject to all documents being in order" Only the date keeps chaging but they are not despatching dont know the reason. I have to travel immediately. Pls send it as soon as possible.

I had applied for Passport on 29.10.2010 at Passport Office at R K Puram, New Delhi vide application no. A064990. As per the norms, passport should be issued wiyhin 45 days of the application. But despite lapse of more than 5 months' time and police report being clear, I have till date not received the Passport.Passport status enquiry since long has been showing the status as " Police Report is clear. Application is under process" and there is no progress in this regard. I have sent number of reminders to the RegionalPassport Officer, New Delhi in this regard through email. But my emails have neither been acknowledged nor any action taken on that. It appears that the Department does not have the system of acknowledging the emails of ordinary citizens like me and norms are thrown to winds..

I reuest that the matter may be looked into and despatch of my Passport may be expedited.

I HAD GIVEN MY PASSPORT TO ONE AGENCY AT ERNAKULAM FOR OVERSEAS JOB IN MUSCAT ACCORDINGLY I ATTENDED INTERVIEW AND PASSED THE SAME. AFTER ONE MONTH THEY HAD INFORMED ME OVER PHONE YOUR VISA IS READY PLEASE PAY SUCH AND SUCH AMOUNT IMMEDIATELY THAT TIME I WAS NOT WELL DUE TO SOME HEALTH PROBLEM AND I SAID I COULD NOT TRAVEL AT THIS TIME FOR MORE THAN 3 MONTHS. THEN I WENT TO THE AGENCY OFFICE AND ASKED ABOUT MY PASSPORT THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WANT SOME AMOUNT FOR RELEASING MY PASSPORT SO I ASKED WHY THEY TOLD ME THAT IT IS FOR FINE AGAINST YOUR VISA. I HAVE NOT SEEN MY VISA OR THEY HAD NOT GIVEN A COPY OF THE SAME.
PLEASE ADVISE ME IS THERE ANY FORMALITIES FOR THIS ?[

I have applied for my passport on 15-Jun-11 and received it on 29-Oct-11. My exprience :

1. The website does show relevant status at all times. Problem is when the status says it would be dispatched in XX days then this is assumption. For any reason, if it dont get dispatched in XX days then the site changes the status to some other relevant status as "Due to unavoidable circumstances...etc etc".
My suggestion would be keep checking with respective authorities on regular basis. It may require your efforts and time but eventually you will get your passport.

2. Just for everyones knowledge, below is the workflow for issue of fresh passport

a. Submission of application
b. Within 2 weeks or so file comes to your local police station
c. Go to police station and check for your file with reference number. DO NOT wait for police to come to your doorstep. This may take additional 3 weeks.
d. Submit DOB proof, residence proof and two hand-written reference letter to local police authority. Remember to take OUTWARD FILE NUMBER from authority once the documents are submitted and report is cleared. No need to pay anything. Atleast I didn't (Proud to do so).
e. From police station, the file goes to commissioner/SP office in next 2-3 days.Go to SP office and show them Outward File number. Push them to send your file to passport office. Do remember to take new OUTWARD FILE NUMBER from SP office as well.
f. Go to passport office and show them both Outward file number (from police station and SP office). Push them when the passport will be dispatched. Regularly check with them to get things done.
e. If everything is OK, you will get your passport in less then 90 days time.

Things do work in Indian govt if we are dedicated to make it work!!!

My father applied for passport before 2 months.But still he did not get the passport.When we search online we got this
massage(It is to regret that due to unavoidable circumstances the despatch of Passport has been delayed and will now be despatched in a week's time).
