[Resolved]  Passport Office Surat — Passport in safe custody

Hi,

I have applied for Tatkal Passport 1 year ago. I got the passport after facing many troubles. After few months I was asked to visit the police station for the Police Verification. I cleared that first verification with no issues. But even after that I was asked for the police verification 4-5 times!!!! can you belive that??? And even after attending the police verifications I got a call from the Passport Office Surat that I was not present at the Police Verification so I have to surrender my passport to the Passport Office Surat & I did that. They took an application from me and a xerox copy of my passport & give me a copy of that with something written with Green ink (at 15 no window). They told me that I have to do the Police Verification again & once it gets done I'll receive my passport by courior. I was asked for the Police Verification again & I did it. After 1 month or so I tried to call them at Passport Office Surat, but no body was picking up the phone. I send several emails at "rpo.[protected]@mea.gov.in" in next couple of months & called them a lot of time but no reply at all!!!! So I decided to visit their office again. I went to the office on 12th Aug 2011 & asked about the status. This time there was a lady in 15 no window & she was surprised by seeing something on the computer. She told me that my passport should no be in Safe Custody!! She asked me to visit the window 3 and meet the assistant passport officer. I went to window 3 and explained the whole story to him. He was also surprised and it seems like there was some problem with their data. Then he consulted with some other person and told me that they need to check my file to figure out why my passport was put into Safe Custody. He asked me to wait for 10-15 mins. After 15-20 mins he called me in his office and told me that "Its lunch break so no peon is there to find my file!!". He asked me to leave my mobile number on the xerox copy of my application (with signature/some info. in Green ink) which I submited at the time of submitting the passport to them (at window no. 15)[this was the only proof which can proove that I have surrender my passport to them]. He told me that I NEED NOT TO CALL THEM ANYMORE they will themself call me within 7-9 days. But I didnt not receive any reply from them. So I again tried to call them & dropped some email, BUT NO RESPONSE!!!
After that day it has been past almost 1.5 months!!! And its more than 1 year from the day I applied for the passport!!!

I am totally frustrated & thinking to take leagal actions against them. Because I am feeling that either they have lost my passport or they want me to offer bribe or they are intentionally mentally and physically harrasing me.

Can anyone give me any email address or phone number of some high authority who can do the needfull in my case? Before doing some legal action against these guys I want to give them a last chance.

Any help will be greatly appriciated.
