Hello Sir, I have applied for my Daughter's passport (now 3 months old) on Aug 4th 2008 in Nellore passport office (SP office) and police enquiry has been done on Aug 11th 2008. however we didn't recieve any updates on this till date. My wife has a pasport which is expiring in the next two months. She had downloaded the form and also the checklist and went to the passport collection centre in the suburbs of MUMBAI with the following documents -original and two copies self certified
1)her passport and mine (recently issued after the old one expired)
2) Her School leaving certificate
3)her birth certificate
4)Voter ID card
5)current maintenance bill
6)current gas bill.
We have not changed our residence since 9 years. In spite of these documents she was asked, after waiting in the queue for 3 and a half hours, to bring a one year old maintenance bill and was asked to fill a fresh first page which contains identical details.
Please let me know wheter the official was correct in asking her to do this?
