[Resolved] Police Station — Bribe for Passport Verification
Hello, I am a victim of corruption in India by the Police Department. I had recently applied for a passport reissue. For the same I was called upon by the Police station office Mr. P Hanumanthappa from my area police station situated at Naveen Park, Kusugal Road, Keshwapur, Hubli - 580023, Karnataka. This incident happened in May 2012. When I visited the police station for verification, firstly I was made to pay Rs. 50 for fingerprinting process. This is something everyone has to pay as per the computer operator. I was not even given a receipt for this amount. Secondly when Mr. P Hanumanthappa completed my verification, he was looking forward for some favours. I offered around 200 Rs which he said was not enough and requested for more - around 500 Rs. I had to go back home all the way and get the money and pay him the said amount of 500Rs. This was embarassing for me as I was afraid he will fail my verification. I did not want to pay the bribe. Can someone action against this form of corruption in our system Thank You. Was this information helpful?
