Special Train reservation — Special Train reservation

Yesterday I traveled from Kumbakonam to Chennai through the special train 0628 (KMU-MAS Spl). I observed that, most of the births are vacant upto Erode, only few passengers are available in the reservation compartment at Kumbakonam. Most of their ticket was in RAC status including my ticket. But the 70% of the confirmed birhs are alloted for the passengers boarding at Karur/Erode/Salem. I booked my e-ticket on the opening day of ticket booking. At the time of booking my ticket status was about WL 30 it is not confirmed upto the time of chart preparation. Atlast, my ticket got RAC status.
Why the preference is not given to the passengers from the long distance like KMU, TJ. Why they are not alloted births? The passengers from Erode have more number of regular trains and some special trains to go Chennai. But for the passengers from KMU&TJ, there is only one regular train is available to go Chennai (Rockfort). Why the preference given to ED only. Why the train is 80% vacant from KMU? Why less no. of births only alloted to them?
