[Resolved]  Sony / Lcd — LCD PCB board carried within one month

I bought Sony Bravia LCD in Jan 08 from Singapore.

Recently my TV stopped working . Person from Sony customer care checked and informed that the PCB board is corroded. I was told that if sent to service center box can be cleaned in solution it may start working.

I was surprised to receive repair quote of Rs. 30,000/ on phone from Sony service center , repair quote was more than current market prize of Sony LCD of 26". Then again I received call with repair quote of 10,000/- still to high for repair of TV .

On my personal visit to Sony service center with LCD TV in Sakinaka Andheri (E) Mumbai , (as suggested earlier by service technician) that it may work by Cleaning with Solution. it still did not work and i was told by service centre to approve the quote of 10000/-. During my purchase I had lot of LCD brand available in Market , most of them at cheaper rates and some even half the price of Sony. Still we bought Sony LCD in faith that we have in Sony brand name for years.

It is very disappointing to know that the Sony product in a span of 20 months can get corroded and stops functioning. I upgraded from CRT to LCD in expectation that the LCD's are more rugged and reliable than CRT. My bedroom CRT is still working since last 10 years without any issue of corrosion.

Request you to intervene and provide appropriate cost for the servicing since it is a quality defect that it could not sustain the weather conditions.

My LCD is still with Sony service centre .( LCD model number : KLV-26U300A , serial no: 4109064)
