Standard Chartered Bank Credit Card — Asking me to pay Rs 5,000 for delay of 1 day

I have paid the total principal amount outstanding on my credit card and the Bank is asking me to pay approximately Rs 5, 000 to pay and I told them to waive it because I have aleady paid the prinicpal amount, I get a reply from the manager that, the bank has its own way to recover the moeny from me. Sir,
I received Standard Chartard Bank credit card in year 2001 and drawn Rs.38000.00 in same year, because of my poor financial position I didn't paid full amount. Now(Sep.2009) they sent a legal notice and there specified to pay debt balance Rs.522, 288.72 this is very high than drawn amount now I am not in position to pay this much amount. Pay back is my moral duty I will pay drawn amount(38000/-) with nominal interest. Please advice me.
