[Resolved]  Star Bazaar — UNETHICAL PRACTICE BY A TATA COMPANY

My wife received a SMS from STAR BAZAR regarding a promo which mentioned Rs.100/- discount on purchases made for Rs. 1000/- and above.
We made purchases of Rs.2780/- + .
Sequence of events:
1. There is a Green Line in the store before the counters and it reads if any one is standing beyond the green line a new till would be opened. We were standing in the queue for 45 minutes and no one was bothered about the hapless customer queues almost on all the tills. We spoke to a few of the staff - but no-one was bothered.
2. We finally managed to get our billing done and there was NO DISCOUNT on the Bill. The person in the counter was ill mannered and when I asked he simply refused to answer. The printer too in the meanwhile did not print - almost 5 people tried (trial and error ) to get it working. I had to wait another 10 minutes after the billing to get the Bill printed out.
3. We went to the Customer service counter and raised the issue of the discount with them. One of the attendants there tried to explain to us that it is not given on FOOD items > ten minutes later he said exactly the opposite (probably was trying to ward us off with a silly excuse). I lodged a complaint in the register and asked to see a senior. A Lady (Green T Shirt) appeared. She initially trued to ward us off citing policies and was reluctant in even answering why the discount was not given. She went out and then came back again and offered us Rs. 100 (cash) which she said she is giving from her own Pocket -- { I WAS AMAZED AT THE AUDACITY OF THIS WOMAN TO OFFER US A BRIBE LIKE THIS TO KEEP QUIET} . This very clearly indicated that all were "HAND IN GLOVE" at the store and we were being asked to hush up with Rs. 100 cash.
We refused to accept the same.
4. After this incident, I went to see the Head of the store and explained the whole incident to him and also spoke to him in front of the LADY supervisor and mentioned about her audacity to offer us a Rs. 100/- BRIBE. He has said he will look into the matter.

I also happened to see the register - which was full of CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS - I am absolutely sure that the store is being run unethically or some people are out there to make a fast buck. - Needs investigation by higher authorities.


I also wish to mention that I find the staff at TATA STAR BAZAR the most ill mannered and un-trained compared to all their other competitors. It is evident the moment you enter the store when you see these people standing and gossiping// cutting across the customers path without and "excuse me" - arrogant body language.
