[Resolved] Tata AIG Health Insurance Maharaksha Policy — Double swiping of credit Card for renewal
I had taken a Medical Insurance Policy with Tata AIG General Insurance for Maharaksha Plan for the first time effective 21 Jan 2008 through till 19 Jan 2009 for an amount of Rs 7038/-. Policy No MRP [protected]. At that time the person who contacted me was from Mumbai and they told me that they don’t have online credit card pay but only through telephone credit card Pay. At first I was apprehensive but they assured that they will not know about the credit card number because the transaction is done through a safe number where you feed in your number. I did as they said and the credit card was swiped and after 15 days the policy arrived through Blue Dart Courier.
This year on 17th January I got a call from Tata Aig, Mumbai phone No[protected].I have it saved on my mobile where they called me. They asked if I wanted to renew the policy and I said alright as I felt like last year the telephone swiping of credit card was safe. But when they transferred me to the card swiping dept the man there said they have my credit card No and they told me the number. I was shocked. I asked why they have my card Number with them without my permission. I told him there are many credit card frauds now a days and I should have atleast known that they had my cc details. He said at Tata AIG there is no problem and we keep all the cc numbers. They said they will send the Renewed Policy by courier.
After that I had no other telephone with them. On 24 th I downloaded my credit statement which I get online through email. On 28th I opened the statement which is password protected and checked my account and saw that there was a Tata AIG credit swipe on 17 Jan 09 for an amount of Rs 7038/-. And then again on 22 Jan 09 the same amount by Tata AIG for Rs 7038/- I immediately sent a letter to [protected]@TATA-AIG.com re: this. They replied, to send the credit card statement. As the statement is password protected. I opened it and took a screenshot of the part of the credit card stated as Doubling Billing. My HDFC CC bank had highlighted this in blue.
They are applying delaying tactics. I have had online credit card payments and if there is a mistake I have found the amount gets reversed back within 2/4 days. This has been going on since 28 Jan09. What is so difficult for them to find out that the card was swiped on 22 Jan 09 again without my knowledge. I have saved all the phone calls on my mobile and nowhere is there a call to me on 22nd Jan. If they had rung me up I would have told them that I have already renewed the policy on 17th Jan.
So this was done without my knowledge and permission. This is a case of fraud and cheating.
I even wrote to my bank and they said this would not reflect on my statement unless the Merchant Bank sends the details. I rang up the call center No:[protected]. The lady at the other told me that the amount has been reversed on 4th Feb and I should wait till the end of the week. I told her that I will be charged interest after 12 Feb if I don’t pay my bill on time. So please see that the amount comes by then. She said it will be there. However at the end of the week on Friday 13th I checked and the amount had not been reversed. I wrote to them I sent about 10 emails one after the other but got no reply. I sent so many emails in the hope they will reply. Then I rang up the call center and again another lady said that the amount has been sent on 4th Feb but there is some internal problem with
our bank and to check at the end of the week . I told her about the interest charged by the bank. She said pay the amount as the payment will be there. So again checked at the end of the week ie: 21 Feb 09. The amount had not come. It has not come to date and I wrote to them that I will be compelled to do a case. Then I get a reply that they are following it up and to give some time.
I have had so much tension, mental anguish and sleepless nights and frightened that they have my credit card No, and any time it can be swiped for more. Their attitude is callous. I trusted them and they have cheated me. I have sent them all that they asked for. What more proof is there? I even sent them the email I got from my bank. Yet they are playing games. Is this what a big and well known company does to its clients?
I am being compelled to take this matter up in court. How much more time do they need. All the proof is there. Rs 7038/- maybe a small amount for them, but not for me. I am not young. I took a policy for my health but if a health insurance company is going to harass their clients then it wont be long before due to mental tension a MAJOR HEALTH PROBLEM MAY RESULT. If to return Rs 7038/-so much of a problem then they will surely trouble when I put in a claim for a major illness incurred because of their harassment.
