[Resolved] TATA Indicom Plug 2 Surf — poor internet connection / poor customer care
I would like describe my bitter experiences with Tata indicom internect service - "plug 2 surf"
One sales person came to my office and told that the USB mode of connecting internet, they call it "plug 2 surf", is really fast and since i had interest in wireless internet due to mobility, i got inclined to take it. When asked about the speed, he told it is 128 Kbps at that moment, and in 2 - 3 months time, they will upgrade it to 512 kbps. Believing his words, i took the connection. He also told me that the USB device can as well be used for any other internet connection like Reliance wireless...
I bought the USB connector device costing Rs.3000. (But after purchasing, i noticed that it was specifically customized for tata-indicom connection with the software and all..). Once started using the connection, i realized the speed of the connection. It is much less than 20kbps..! My main intention was to access my office mails at home thru outlook's web-client, but believe or not, I was never able to do so, inspite of various "engineers" from tata-indicom coming and making it faster. For a simple google search it will take upto 5 minutes to displaz the results, and sometimes never...! So you can imagine the speed..!
To get someone look at the problem, they had given some customer care number and when called, they would some other department is responsible for it, and one day i made 6 calls to different tata-indicom departments to get a complaint registered for slow speed.. As mentioned earlier, those "engineers" could do anything...
Finally, i thought of discountinuing the connectiion, and it was another nightmare..! They would ask reason (obviously, they should), but they would say "sir, we would look at it and resolve, why u want to close the connection", but nothing will happen... I used to get bills for monthly rentals, and they used to deduct from my account... Last time, again i called them up to discontinue the connection, i got a reference number for the disconnection, and i sent a mail to their customer care and my bank to stop bills and stop payment respectively, quoting the above reference number. But i still receive the bills from them..
Can i approach consumer court against this "Service provider". For me, i had a total loss of around Rs.6000 -- Rs.3000 for the device and nearly Rs.3000 for "bills"..
